Wolves keeper Wayne Hennessey is out of tonight's friendly in Belgium - forcing a double-quick return for Marcus Hahnemann. Hennessey has suffered a back strain in training and misses the trip to face Charleroi tonight.
Hennessey's absence means that Wolves' only other fit senior keeper - Carl Ikeme - is set to keep his place after keeping a clean sheet in Tuesday's 4-0 win against Walsall, with Hahnemann as his back-up.
But the setback to Hennessey is a blow after the Wales international looked back to his best with some vocal and impressive performances in training as he bids to re-establish himself as first choice.
Hahnemann has been drafted back into the squad at the end of a week when he has returned to pre-season training after being at the World Cup with the USA.
The former Reading keeper admitted his surprise at being called up so soon, but said he is ready to play if needed.
"I wasn't initially going so I'm not sure if I'm down to play any part," he said.
"You just have to be careful with things like kicking that you don't have any problems when you've only just come back. I'm feeling good."
At 38, Hahnemann would relish more rest time given the opportunity.
"Three weeks time off is never enough — I could have done with six months!" he said. "But now I'm back and travelling to Belgium. The first couple of days were a bit sluggish but by the end of the week I was feeling a lot better, although tired."
Joining Hennessey on the absent list are Ronald Zubar and Steven Mouyokolo as Wolves bid to continue their 100 per cent start to pre-season with their third game in their third different country.
Adlene Guedioura is one of the two Charleroi-connected Wolves players with Geoffrey Mujangi Bia returning to the club tonight.
The Algeria World Cup star only returned to training this week, but said: "I feel fit and ready to start the new season."
