Wolves World Cup trio on target for opener
Friday 23rd July 2010, 2:30PM BST.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy expects his World Cup trio to be ready for the start of the Premier League season.
Marcus Hahnemann, Adlene Guedioura and Nenad Milijas returned to pre-season training on Monday. None of them got beyond the group stages in South Africa.
Hahnemann didn’t get off the bench for the USA, Milijas played an hour of Serbia’s opener against Ghana and Guedioura appeared as a late substitute for Algeria in all three of their group games against the USA, England and Slovenia.
The rest of McCarthy’s squad have been back in training for almost four weeks already.
But thanks to a gradual return to work under fitness coach Tony Daley, the Molineux chief is confident the three late-comers will be ready for the big kick-off against Stoke on August 14.
“They had two weeks off and then they did a programme with a programme from Tony Daley,” said McCarthy. “It won’t take them long to get back into it.
“They know it’s going to be hard and that there’s competition for places, but they’ve been really good.”

What a strange two weeks it has been since our last game. I haven’t looked over my neighbour’s fence with as much interest since Pamela Anderson moved in next door and regularly used her trampoline, writes Albion blogger Jarrod Hill.
