Tony Pulis says given time, he will improve West Brom again

Tony Pulis says Albion have now got enough quality on the pitch to play expansive football and has promised fans that given time, he will improve the team again.

SOCCER - English Premier League - West Ham United v West Bromwich Albion
Tony Pulis, head coach of West Bromwich Albion

For two years Pulis has been trying to rebuild the Baggies in his image, but last season was a grind that put plenty of supporters off the Welshman.

However, this campaign has been much more exciting, and Albion currently sit five points clear in eighth place, having lost just one game to a team outside the current top seven this season.

"I know where we are," he said, after Saturday's 2-2 draw with West Ham. "I’m very pleased we can come away and play more open and expansive. We’ve got the players to do that now.

"But it takes time, step by step. The important thing is people understanding we’re not going to be able to go out and spend £100 million.

"Although we’ve got Chinese owners we’re not going to do that. What we’ve got to do is be clever and make sure we get a really good spirit and togetherness in the dressing room and then every year and in every window we try and make the team better.

"If it’s one player, brilliant. If it’s two players, brilliant. But you need time to do that. Unfortunately in football if you have a bad spell, people wobble.

"You just hope you’re given the chance, as I was at Stoke, Gillingham for four years and other places I’ve worked at.

"Given time you can walk away from a football club and they say ‘he did a good job here’."

Albion's season fizzled out last year when they reached 40 points, but Pulis didn't have James Morrison or Chris Brunt, who were both injured, and has since added Nacer Chadli, Matt Phillips, Allan Nyom and Jake Livermore to the team.

Morrison played his 300th Albion game on Saturday, but looked perplexed when he was brought off for Claudio Yacob with the scores level.

Pulis also took off Chadli and Phillips in changes that appeared to be negative, but the head coach said he was worried about injuries.

"Mozza’s been brilliant," he said. "One of the staff said he was holding his hamstring so I brought him off to make sure.

"We did the same with Chadli. We didn’t want to take a risk with Chadders. They’re important players."

A Premier League squad is made up of confident young men who are in peak physical condition. Most of them are millionaires too. Whether your agree or not the head coach has to be the alpha to gain the respect of the squad.

Do you remember a couple of seasons ago when the players used to laugh at Pepe Mel and not listen to his instructions? I haven't seen that clique dare that while Pulis has been around.

Extra discipline in the high pressure environment has improved the form considerably. Pulis may well be too stubborn for the real world. But that's an excellent trait to have when you have a 7 figure salary and bonus lying in the hands of Millionaire playboys...

Some would argue that I'm a little hard on the more negative among us, especially the support from the other 3 stands of the Hawthorns, so I just hope the E&D cover Darren Fletcher's comments on the club website.

'deu

Jack the Hat.

I'm sure the other three stands couldn't care two hoots what you think, they go to watch the match.

BOING~~~~~BOING~~~~J♣H.

Kev in Mallorca

Ditto, I couldn't give two hoots what they think of me, but you've proved my point "they go to WATCH the match" which is perfectly correct, my beef is I think they should vocally support the players, that all they can do to help the team to win, they can't do anything else, sitting there silent with their arms folded will not help WBA win anything, if they want to know how much it means I suggest they read Darren Fletcher's comments on the clubs web site.

I think you've missed one of your meds Jack, but there agen yo may've doubled up.

wba-man

TP's philosophy is obviously based on steady, incremental improvement and continuity so, with that in mind, I hope that behind the scenes plans are being made for Darren Fletcher to eventually take the managerial reins. He's a natural leader, he's totally bought into the Pulis mentality and has had two great managers (one the best ever IMO) to learn from throughout his career.

The Real Bully Hoo.

I was thinking along those lines, this morning when Derek McInnes was mentioned as a possible Rangers manager and set me thinking how long will TP want to carry on. I love the idea of Fletch being kept on to learn under TP and eventually take over the reins. Doesn't always work but then neither does bringing a stranger in, as we know only too well.

jordao1-0

Good comments wba-man. What a great idea of starting our own boot room mentality. Promote from within and keep growing steadily. As for Rondon, he really needs a rest, give HRK a run out and when the big man comes back he'll shut the stupid doubters up. Or should we go out and sign Suarez, Sanchez or Aguerro?!?!

Rondonsclass

That would be a great idea, although I can't see Pulis retiring for some years. Building from the bottom up is what bigger clubs than ourselves are based on. The likes of Bayern Munich, Barca and United are all traditionally run by former players from the kids coaches, first team coaches sometimes even the managers. Said it a few times on here now, chuffed with how our club is being run. The likes of Villa and Wolves, even the teams around us throwing money around at unkown foreigners for instant success. Yet we are built on a British spine, with honest hardworking players.

I think Fletch would make a great manager, or even a number 2 for a few years.

wba-man

I wasn't thinking in terms of Fletcher taking over I'm the next year or two. He could continue playing for a couple of years yet while serving his managerial apprenticeship, so to speak.

Rondonsclass

I think he's regretting taking Chadli and Morrison off, although at the time West Ham were running riot through our team. Livermore isn't quite as defencive minded as Claudio but Yacob looked slightly off the pace when he came on, he was at fault for the second goal. Very unlike him to let someone have so much space on the edge of the area. If he left Morrison and Chadli on who knows we may well have walked away with all 3 points.

When the summer comes like Pulis says we might only need to bring in 1 or 2 new players (Unless of course we somehow catch Everton and get Europe). Another striker and perhaps another attacking midfeilder like Chadli.

Talking about strikers I think it's only Right Robson-Kanu gets some praise. 2 away games in a row he's came on and in my opinion played really well. The ball seems to be sticking to him more than Rondon and personally i'd give Sol a rest v Bournmouth. Give R-Kanu a chance up top and perhaps bring Rondon on after an hour or so.

wba-man

I agree with your comment about Robson-Kanu and Rondon. Rondon badly needs a rest and RK deserves a chance.

Kev in Mallorca

You could also argue that if we had signed Messi and Ronaldo last summer we would be at least 5th now.

The Real Bully Hoo.

If ifs and ands were pots and pans, there'd be no work for tinkers' hands.

Rondonsclass

Bully, we may well have lost if he left Chadli and Morrison on. I was'nt slating Pulis, I just think he's secretly regretting taking them off.

Sorry for being pedantic but, I take it you were talking about Rasputin, when I first replied to his post replying to a Dingle muppet I was still incest at Mad Jack hissing Shewolf off that much she took early retirement.

His post was just the same old crap and I posted a sarcastic reply, I then replied to a comment from Cantello to a Dingle which was short and sharp expressing my pleasure that it was short and sharp with no content that would lead to the usual WAR and Peace, which was my opinion, Ras subsequently took offence to this reply saying that he doesn't take kindly to me telling him where to post and what to say, no way was my words 'telling' anybody anything.

You then came on telling him that he could do what he like and nobody could tell him what to do or where to do it or words to that effect, which was in effect saying I was 'telling' people what to do and that's why I included you in the "site police chasers".

Can't win anyways up cause Cantello took the ;ump and I was agree with him.

Not arguing just putting my point of view.

PS. think it's a bit late for me to stop being harsh, dow yo?

Kev in Mallorca

Tell you the truth I don't really think there is much difference it's still putting something out there which in not true, for God sake he's told you above why he did it, if he hadn't protected then they couldn't play the next 2 games and it come out that Jimmy was feeling his hamstring at West Ham you would've said "why didn't he take them of at West Ham when he saw Jimmy holding his hamstring and Chadli's knee needs protecting. I recall having one of my infrequent glances at the Wolves site the other week on one of their match reports, and half way down was Kev in Mallorca saying ' I thought you dingles would be over on our site, because Cantello and Bully are waiting because they've got nothing to do... '.

The fact that I never post on the Wolves site, and someone was YET AGAIN making sarcastic and intimidating references to me had me spitting feathers, I had to count to ten to calm down-

I'm absolutely sick to the back teeth of all this CARP, and it's time a certain person stopped rubbing people up the wrong way and DROPPED IT - he's upsetting more Baggies fans than rival fans-

ENOUGH...........!!!!!!!!!!!

The Real Bully Hoo.

I don't think you were supposed to notice that Rocket lol.

Kev in Mallorca

Who have I wrongly upset then Cantello

Kev in Mallorca

The Man with the False Handshake

You'll have to delve into your extensive files, I just been dredging through the Dingle comments trying to find the post you plucked out of the archives, couldn't find it but then it suddenly came to me.

The last time I was on there was the Liverpool game report when I went on pleading with She not to expose me wearing a Dingle shirt as I had a laugh watching it with some Liverpool fans and pictures were taken which might surface on social media.

The lads in the pub did threaten it and the actual picture was me setting fire to the shirt while wearing it, She and co took it in good humour, the ony thing was, which I'd forgot about was there was 2 more names that were all over the site with several comments, guess who, Cantello, who "occasionally" ventures and Trbhoo.

As for the one you refer to, let me know?

Kev in Mallorca

Sorry Mr Handshake, you seem to have made a mistake in your post, do you want to revise "the FACT I never post on Wolves sites" statement you so boldly announced.

CantelloRocket 78

I put ONE post on the wolves site, telling Shewolf I was pleased for her, and that's the ONLY post I've put on there for years-

you charge on these threads like a Spanish Bull in a China Shop, leaving a trail of dispute and disruption, and have had friction with many of the regular posters on here - still do...!!

Some time ago, we both joined another Albion forum, and within days you were given a life ban for arguing with Baggies supporters...unbelievable...!!!

The ' false handshake ' was because at the time I wanted to put things behind us, in good faith, then a couple of days later I saw you make sarcastic remarks on here about me ' dingle chasing ' - yet another time you tested my patience.

Now do us a favour Kev - lock yerself in a broom cupboard and argue with yerself, because there can't be anyone else left to rub up the wrong way.

Seriously, that's it - far too much carp, I'm wasting my time with this garbage-

END...

The Real Bully Hoo.

I'm not sure what I said on there because I do rarely go over there but I don't go Dingle baiting, when I do it's to talk about football. Can you tell me what I'm supposed to have posted?

I do post against the trolls that come over here but I try to make it funny or sarcastic. I do believe I'm still allowed to do that as long as I have a note.

Kev in Mallorca

Trbhoo

There you go, you joined in with Handshake's little escapade and I stated a fact, I didn't say anything about you posting cause you didn't tell any lie that you never posted, your name was coincidental but your little comment about being allowed to do things shows your intention in a different light to your response early re police.

Thank's for that

Kev in Mallorca

My point being Cantello is it's either NEVER post or ONE post, as for "this garbage" I think in this instance it was you who escalated into this proportion all I did was mention you having a go at me for agreeing with you in an explanatory exchange with Trbhoo.

I must say I like your slant on other events.

Jack the Hat.

Kev,

You ask Rocket who you have upset! take a gander around this string. You should count about eight if you include yourself.

Red-red puts you in bed.

BOING~~~~~BOING~~~~J♣H.

The Real Bully Hoo.

Everybody that's not Kev please don't read this because it will be very tedious and boring for you.

Sorry Kev but your post clearly states that along with Rocket I was all over that site. Then when challenged you say I might not have posted on there but I was all over it anyway. I'm not sure what you actually mean by that, was I some sort of ghostly presence?

The only post I've put on the Wolves site in about 12 months was one when I said I thought Lambert was the safest pair of hands for their manager's job and a number of Wolves fans (including She) took part in a discussion about it.

I don't go over there baiting people and I reserve the right to reply to them if they come over here but only if they ask for it by posting rowlocks.

In the past I've asked Jack not to go over there causing trouble (if that's being site police then I hold my hands up) but that's because doing that is what brings the idiots over here.

Like you I might sometimes talk to people on here in a high handed way, not intentionally but perhaps I have delusions of grandeur and think I'm more important than I really am, then again in my defence at least I have awareness that I'm doing it.

But please don't accuse me of things I haven't done, I do not go over the Wolves site to stir things up which is what you accused me of before back tracking.

Kev in Mallorca

Trbhoo

Agreed I did drift into a little gobbledygook but you were on there with Cantello, unlike him you are forgetful as to when and where, I was talking about the Liverpool match report site where you have 4 posts and when I say all over the site I don't mean that both of you were baiting, you were indeed in discussion as was I and you didn't say you never post over there.

I don't know why you should have point out your rights as I don't see anyone challenging your right to do so.

Again Trbhoo I haven't accused you of doing anything you haven't done, as I've said in another post there is only one person who escalated our exchanges into the depths and if you really think I've offended you or your honour then I can only apologise but let me know so I can avoid it in future.

As you say in your post to Rondon and myself below "the written word",

in the pub over a pint or two, in your case a coke it would pass without incident.

'deu

Happy Baggie

This is reason why I and many others have drifted off this site, or at least rarely bother to comment.

No one wants to be picked over on every comment so it becomes a bore.

No problem with people expressing their own opinions, but why keep nit-picking over what everyone else thinks ?

Things are rarely black and white, and opinion isn't always fact (FACT!)

Kev in Mallorca

'appy

I hold my hands up to nit picking but in my defence I was responding to Rondons comment which I thought was nit picking about TP's decisions at a time when we are enjoying probably our best season in the Prem.

It subsequently turns out that Rondon wasn't and depending on your point of view whether he explained himself properly caused a disagreement.

This particular spat then took a turn for the worse after comments from a,

and there is where I'll stop.

deu

The Real Bully Hoo.

It sounded very much as though you were saying I go over putting silly posts on which I don't. The posts you refer to if I remember correctly was me congratulating two Wolves fans that I like and get on with She and Tellit and then replying to their replies. I'm sure that nobody else on here can see anything wrong with that.

Kev in Mallorca

Trbhoo

You tell me where I sounded like you were putting silly post on Dingles sites, it only came up when he who NEVER posts over there brought it up poking his nose in trying to make out that I was over there causing trouble and I knew dam well he had posted there.

How the chuck do you get that I think there is something wrong with your posts, I've already said I was on the same site having a loff with She, and if I not mistaken Tellit joined in as well.

If "it" hadn't come on telling lies the exchange would've ended with my light hearted post at 4:57pm which is 16 posts earlier than this one.

We've had our differences but I'm sure you know I would never accuse you of stirring on Dingles site, I don't tell lies unlike some.

'deu

The Real Bully Hoo.

"there was 2 more names that were all over the site with several comments, guess who, Cantello, who "occasionally" ventures and Trbhoo."

That is copy and pasted from your post. Like I said, I congratulated two friendly Wulfies on a very good result, I wasn't making a comment that was it. I think they both replied and out of politeness I replied to them. I wouldn't call that being, 'all over the site with several comments.'

I rest my case.

CantelloRocket 78

STILL banging on and on about me posting ONCE to Shewolf, and no other posts on the wolves site for years, so you try to paint me as a nasty liar on the basis of that one personal message - and STILL keep repeating it over and over-

you really have a massive chip on yer shoulder, and blank out so much conflict and bad feeling generated right through this thread involving you and others, not just me, because as usual you just can't stop, and always want the last word-

poor little Kev and nasty me, eh...??

I could explain anything and every point you raise, but just like Rondonclass said, you pull posts apart and nit-pick.

Pathetic and embarrassing in the extreme.........for God's sake, give it a rest.

Kev in Mallorca

I think that's always been the case with Yac, he lacks the instant pace yo need. He needs maybe 5-10 yards before he gets into his stride. That's why he's been so effective recently, he gets close and gets the tackle in early.

Jack the Hat.

My gripe was taking off our attackers when we seemed to be in line for three points, now I know why.

CantelloRocket 78

The Head Coach will usually ' cover ' his players in interviews, but he may actually be thinking a little differently - Chadli scored a class goal early on, but seemed to fade somewhat afterwards, Mozza seemed pretty quiet, as watching the game on the net he was hardly being mentioned.Chadli still seems to be recovering from his operation, and Mozza's had that lengthy injury, plus others in recent times, so although they looked below par, TP can also point to being concerned about their fitness.

Matty Phillips also wasn't at his best, so with our key attacking players struggling, we looked like being over-run by the Spammers, resulting in changing both personnel and formation to counter this.

West Ham have had 3-0, 3-1 and 3-1 victories recently, their confidence was high, and they were playing at home, so many would say a 2-2 draw there was an excellent result for us...

jonathan.willetts.3

I agree, there were a number of players that looked a little "off the pace". Maybe this couple of weeks off with family and they'll come back ready for Bournemouth & Palace. COYB

Rondonsclass

To be fair when Chadli come off we seemed to stop the attacking flow West Ham were building up. The first goal was out of nothing really, shame because Fosters save was out of this world.

Kev in Mallorca

Rondon

So why did you say above that TP must be regretting taking Chadli off if his substitution worked?

'deu

Rondonsclass

I didn't say Pulis 'must be regretting' taking them off. That's just the gist I got from reading his comments about fitness.

If he had to take them off because of fitness that indicates he didn't want to take them off doesn't it? and the look they both gave as they walked off indicates niether were injured or tired, doesn't it?

You're completely missing the point I origionally made and making yourself look a fool.

I also did'nt say he should or shouldn't have took them off either did I? Personally I think the removal of Chadli worked to some degree at holding West Ham back, although we did concede not long after he was removed.

Before you reply to each and every comment try and actually read what I have put. You must live a very very sad life trying to pick apart everybodys opinion.

That's why we have these comment sections so that people can voice thier views and opinions. I wouldn't usually mind but I haven't even said a bad word about anybody in the club. Idiot

Kev in Mallorca

We obviously went to a different school, you did say "I think he's regretting taking Chadli and Morrison off", if you had included "thinking they were injured" I wouldn't have got the wrong idea, so if anyone is the fool I think it's you for not explaining yourself, we're not all mind readers.

Believe it or not that's what you are supposed to do, read every word of every post that everyone puts on here, it shouldn't be a guessing game.

There are still some that criticize TP and still try to undermine him, I took your first comment as just that and I reacted accordingly, in my mind correctly to the comment in front of me, obviously you didn't mean it like that and in hindsight now you have so vehemently explained, my comment was out order and I apologise for reacting to what in my mind you did say, but in saying that can you think about what you say, read it through, make it fool proof in order to cater for all levels of education. Idiot xx

The Real Bully Hoo.

It's the trouble with the written word. It can be very easy to say something we don't mean and at times very hard to explain what we do mean.

To my mind there's nothing wrong with having a go at each other on here but there's no need to take it personally as it rarely is.

We take it that way because we all care deeply about the club and that's the very reason we shouldn't be falling out.

Sometimes it helps to count to 10 before pressing the submit button. Sometimes it helps to re-read what we've written but none of us are perfect so let's take a chill pill.

Baggies ay we! Mother Teresa over and out.

And yes Medway, I do know that's incorrect radio procedure but I like the sound of it so stuff you (only joking in a feeble attempt at humour to illustrate my point.)

baggietillidie

When I saw TP taking Chadli, and Mozza off I too swallowed deeply, but as it turned out the final score line totally vindicated those changes, and TP has absolutely no case to answer, even though the E&D seem to be suggesting otherwise - nothing new there then. And what with W.Ham being directly beneath us at the start of play, our valuable point pretty well snuffed out any allusions they had re taking over our number 8 slot, at least for now. Likewise our late equaliser must have felt like a defeat to them

So one small point won, but another giant leap forward in the ongoing forging of the Baggie's new 'Never Say Die' mentality, and yessireebob, I'm personally 'over the moon'.

CantelloRocket 78

Hi Tillie,

there are some who still believe TP purposely tells the players to defend deeply, and just ' try not to lose ' - and in fairness, there may be those occasions that we're under severe pressure, so need to build up resistance in numbers to avoid caving in -

but having said that, Pulis has been quoted as saying when the whistle blows to start a game, he ALWAYS wants to win it, added to which, I sit in the East Stand right facing TP across the pitch, and there's been several occasions that we've been absorbing pressure, with the Head Coach shouting his head off, and furiously gesturing with his arms for the players to get up the pitch, he clearly WANTS us to take the offensive at every opportunity.

It was Don Howe who once said after a defeat - he was almost in tears at the time, and sounded very frustrated - that ' you train with the players all week, instruct them what to do, but when they get on the pitch they often seem to instantly forget it all..' - lack of confidence and fear of the opposition can clearly affect a player's game...

baggietillidie

Hi Rocket - like you mate I reckon 90% of every game he's yelling us forward, and if for some reason we can't, or don't, then the picture of him in his box is a complete study of a Banshee in meltdown [I love it!]...............and if he can't win, well it's a point or yer life! And you know what mate? - I actually think the players themselves are slowly but surely morphing into mini Tone's, it's why we're in 8th and, for now at least, comfortably looking like we're not out of place there either.

Have a nice afternoon.

baggietillidie

Just would like to add that, to my eyes anyway, even at times when we've been accused of going into a game to"Park the Bus" TP has been, more often than not, in an absolute frenzy in trying to get the lads to break forwards. Obviously, most of the time fans are watching where the ball is and only ever look towards the tech area when perhaps TP's appealing for one thing or another - but as for me I really do like to take a few seconds out and just watch Tone - it's never dull.

CantelloRocket 78

Like you say mate, it's hard to imagine a Head Coach more passionate and animated than TP - sitting right opposite, and regularly watching him, I'm thinking if the Baggies fans all showed that much emotion and vocal encouragement during the game, the opposition team would quickly grab their tin hats, and run for the tunnel...

( p.s. - by passionate and animated, I mean in a ' good ' way - not like Klopp and Bilic, the Chuckle Brothers... ).

CantelloRocket 78

Sorry, I did of course mean ' The Chuck-it Brothers... :-)

baggietillidie

Mate - I'm sorry, but if we did all follow TP in his passionate antics there'd have to be a few dozen ambulances waiting outside on constant stand-by for everything from swallowed tongues to full blown heart attacks........just look at the age of some of us! And if you think there's too many empty seats now...well think on! And by the way, I'm only allowed a few nights of passion per month these days so would prefer to use me pills to get me through those, thank you very much!

CantelloRocket 78

Ah....nights of passion, I remember those...!! - reminds me of the World Cup, they generally turn up once every four years...

baggietillidie

Rocket - think you've got the wrong idea mate - my nights of passion are to sit down with a good looking cheese, the pills are for me heartburn.

The Real Bully Hoo.

I was going to pick you up on a few nights of passion a month, I don't get that a year. And then I saw you were talking about our real passion and if you combine it with Oh Mr Porter or The Lavender Hill Mob we really would need the ambulance standing by after an overdose of pleasure. I might even have the ice cream girls offering a selection of cheeses as well when the WWAFC Bijou Kinema is open (has anybody ever thought about cheese flavoured ice cream? Come on Heston Blumenthal.)

baggietillidie

Bully - super call mate re the 'Cheese Girls', but could they be called the 'Cheeky Cheese Girls', just to please me? As to cheese ice cream, it's already up and running - every flavour from your common Cheddar, to your more exotic Filipino - mate, if we dress the girls in Cheddar yellow there'll be a stampede!

Anyway, a true story [for a change!] - 15 years ago, on a whim, I dragged the wife and kids with me on a whirlwind trip to see the Great Pyramid at Giza - heading back to the ship on a stinking hot coach, through a stinking hot desert, with all us Pyramid punters ready to pass-out, my 10 year old daughter [happy as Larry] is piping out at the top of her voice a full rendition of "Oh Mr Porter what can I do..............." Absolutely surreal, and what's more, 10 times more magical than seeing that Pyramid!

Seems I trained her right mate....and she still loves Will to this day.

The Real Bully Hoo.

She's definitely one of us Tillie, you must be really proud of her.

Stourstu

Are they off to Dubai i hope so they deserve it !!!

Baggie 68

Well Tony you should have almost sorted your defence and midfield out during the last few windows. Hopefully you should be able to put your concentration on some strikers during the summer window as we are drastically short in the goal scoring department.

C'mon you Baggies!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AndyH

To be honest...when he was appointed.....I wanted timid tiny tim and said so loudly. I wasn't alone. TP got the job.....I was worried.......I wasn't alone. We were all wrong!!

End....move on. A bit like Brexit......the results in so move along.

Under TP we have slowly overhauled midfield and it's now got pace, vigour, experience, youth and skill. Defence...sorted!! Yep we need to start replacing players in the near future but....no panic at the moment.

As my dad said...we do need a pacey striker ( as he called it a footnote with a brain and professionalism....) but we're not in danger and are fast becoming a club to be considered the best of rest....the one that, given time, could make the break through. So why change the gaffa??

I've eaten my humble pie.....it tasted nice.

My better half put it bluntly on Sunday when we got back from our 10th wedding anniversary meal......"why would you want to change TP when it's working??"......for me she's got it taped.

End really.......we're pretty much safe in feb and 7th.....with a good wind and fair sail could be on the cards. That's potentially Europe......

oh happy days.......

baggietillidie

Evenin' Andy - I must confess mate that I actually [grudgingly] WANTED TP! Why, because at that time I thought he was the best fire-fighter [and boy, we needed one then] we could get, simple as that. I hoped that first and foremost he'd bring to us a dose of that Stoke grit [like it or lump it] and once that aspect was established I also hoped that he'd bring in the players that would allow him to go one better than he did at Stoke, and pass onto us some of that Palace flair. OK, at times I've had my doubts as to whether he could actually do that for us, but, and I hope it's not too soon to say, I think he's creating a thrilling mix that has at it's core that old Stoke grit, but which also has that added flair - in truth mate, a super-hybrid.

I have a dream........

AndyH

Loving the I have a dream line......I know I should be thinking of Dr martin Luther king Jnr......but I keep thinking of John Gordon Sinclair's 1982 Scotland world Cup song instead......

the chorus was/is

I have a dream (we have a dream)

If dreams come true (If dreams come true)

then bonny Scotland (then bonny Scotland)

I will play for you. (we'll play for you)

Now i hope and i pray (we hope and pray)

that if, if I do (that if we do)

Then bonny Scotland we'll play for you

I should be ashamed really.....but I'm not.....it's a great sentiment

hope you're well

The Real Bully Hoo.

Sorry Andy, from your end of the telescope JGS's soliloquy might have sounded inspirational but tbh from our end it sounded slightly embarrassing, not unlike We're on the March Wie Allie's Army or England's World Cup exploits since 1974.

CantelloRocket 78

Hi Andy,

not quite everyone got it wrong, mate...lol.

Seriously, we could do with another striker recruited, if only for the fact that we're currently very stretched in that department-

I recall Tony Pulis saying at the end of last season that we needed to focus on bringing attacking players in - but it was claimed he couldn't have a striker until the Berahino business was sorted out, so he bent over backwards to use the self-centred little time waster, but we now have it confirmed that he was actually dropped from the team because he was drugged up-

I imagine those who criticised TP, and defended Berahino, must be feeling more than a bit embarrassed by now, and owe our Head Coach a big apology-

but I won't hold me breath...

All the best, mate.

AndyH

Mate,

you know what...i'd love for us to get past 50 points this season....and for TP to have a pacey, professional striker lined up for the first day of the window. Job done and sorted!!

I'd also like to see Rondon play on the half turn a tad more just to see him run a defence at times....

oh, and a winning lottery ticket as well.

CantelloRocket 78

Yes, Andy - expect nothing, but hope for everything...that tends to temper any disappointment..lol.

Thanks for your common sense and humour, the best way to finish off at bedtime.

Cheers, mate.

BaggiesMark1968

We've come along way this season, home wins against all those we would hope and expect to beat and picking up away points at place like West Ham and winning at Southampton and Leicester. I'm sure the summer will bring further additions and improvements which could push us into competing for one of the cups. I'm sure fans would love a Wembley final.
