West Brom boss Tony Pulis backs Pep Guardiola's tackling comments
Tony Pulis has defended fellow Premier League boss Pep Guardiola over his comments on tackling.
The City boss came under fire after the 4-2 loss against Leicester and said: "I don't train the tackles, what I want is try to play good and score goals and arrive more."
The Albion boss empathised with the Spaniard and said: "I am not sure whether that is what Pep meant, or what he didn't mean.
"I think every part of the game is an important part. You hope and pray that by the time players come to you, the academies which we spend a hell of a lot of money on will teach them all the aspects of the game.
"I do understand where he is coming from – he is a possession manager.
"That is massive for him and he would concentrate more on the ball. I think it may have been taken out of context in that respect."
On whether the Premier League is catching out managers from abroad, Pulis added: "Pep will get it this year, going to grounds where there might be a 'gimme' in Spain, there is never a gimme in England.
"Especially when the big clubs turn up, it's cup finals."
