According to The Daily Telegraph, Baggies boss Tony Pulis has added the £12m-rated 25-year-old to his list of potential summer targets.

Albion are hoping to buy at least two strikers once the transfer window opens on June 9.

They need to replace Victor Anichebe, who's been released this week, and Saido Berahino, who will most likely be sold.

Valencia scored four Premier League goals in the season just gone, but his campaign was plagued by several injuries.

West Ham are looking for new strikers this summer, and Valencia isn't the first Hammers forward the Baggies have been linked with.

Earlier this year they were rumoured to be interested in 26-year-old Diafra Sakho, who scored five Premier League goals in a season also limited in appearances due to injury.

Although Pulis bought Salomon Rondon for £12m from Russian side Zenit St Petersburg last summer, he traditionally prefers players with Premier League experience.

Albion had the oldest squad in the top tier last season, and Pulis wants to add some young attacking talent to the strike force.
