James Chester hails variety of victories

James Chester admits that it's not always fun grinding out results and understands fans want to be entertained.

But the Albion defender says this Tony Pulis side are great at getting victories in a variety of ways.

The Baggies are on red-hot form at the moment, having picked up 10 points from a possible 12 in the Premier League.

But earlier this year, supporters were growing increasingly frustrated with Pulis's perceived defensive playing style and lack of ambition.

Albion had no shots on target against Southampton, Villa or Newcastle, and the calls for Pulis's head started to grow.

"We understand as players that fans pay a lot of money and they want to come and be entertained," said Chester.

"Sometimes this year, we've not always been that. It's not always as enjoyable to play in sometimes, but I think we have to dig in, it's a really tough league, and get results different ways.

"We've got 10 points in four games and we look a threat up front so hopefully we can create more chances and get more points."

Performances have improved too, and the positive feeling around the club is the polar opposite of just a few weeks ago.

Instead of the magical 40-point mark, thoughts have turned to smashing through the club's Premier League record tally of 49, set under Steve Clarke in 2012/13.

"The last four games we've put ourselves in a really good position," said Chester.

"The previous two games (Crystal Palace and Leicester) have been a little unlike us with lots of goals involved.

"Against Manchester United and Everton we showed we're really organised and difficult to beat.

"With Saido (Berahino) and Salomon (Rondon) up top we are creating more chances and are more of a threat.

"With nine games to go we can start to look up and see how far we can get."
