Albion boss Tony Pulis has called on Premier League clubs to stop "milking" supporters and cap away ticket prices at £10.

The Baggies head coach is keen to see atmosphere restored to grounds and eager fans do not get priced out of the game. "With all the money coming in, I'd love to see that atmosphere come back," said Pulis. "I'd love away supporters to only pay £10 a ticket: whatever ground you go to, make it £10.

"You can give 5-6,000 tickets to the away support, they'd sell them and we'd get back to the atmospheres we used to have.

"That's one thing the Germans have got over us at the moment: every ground you go to the atmosphere is absolutely fantastic. It'll help the supporters as well.

"Clubs are getting enough money to subsidise and help the public. We've got to do more for the youngsters, to keep them involved. This is the greatest football nation in the world, we produce great players because of our systems, the way we work, the way we are – but we've got to make sure we're not milking, milking and milking. We've got to give something back."

Pulis was reacting to the news Liverpool had backed down from plans to raise ticket prices next season after protests from fans.

Around 10,000 supporters walked out of Anfield before the end of last Saturday's 2-2 with Sunderland in opposition to proposals which would have seen the Reds' most expensive season ticket pass the £1,000-mark next year.

Albion fans will meanwhile benefit from exactly the kind of pricing structure Pulis craves after tickets for next Saturday's FA Cup fifth round tie at Reading were priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. The Baggies have an allocation of between 2,500 and 4,000 for the tie, which has been confirmed as a 3pm kick-off. Tickets are on sale to away season ticket holders.
