The Baggies' stalwart is one of several players currently sidelined.

Tomorrow's FA Cup fourth-round replay at Peterborough will probably come too soon for him, but he is expected to return from his calf injury in time to play Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.

"We've got a decent enough squad and if we can get everybody fit and out on the pitch, we'll be okay this season," said Brunt.

Albion are currently six points above the drop zone and have failed to win any of their last five Premier League games.

While other teams around them strengthened in the transfer window, after an expensive summer, Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace refused to spend a penny.

The club did add to their squad though, bringing Alex Pritchard and Sandro in on loan from Tottenham and QPR respectively.

Peace regards the January transfer window as a rotten market; and dislikes doing any business in it.

"January and August is always a difficult period for every club," said Brunt. "January especially, because you're either buying to try and win something or you're buying to try and stay in the league.

"As a club, we've never been ones for throwing a lot of money around in January. Touch wood, it's always been okay."
