Thanks to Norwich and Bournemouth both losing, West Brom remain six points and four places clear of the drop zone.

But Tony Pulis's side are playing poorly, and have failed to win any of their last five league games.

Foster's heroics in goal were the only reason relegation-threatened Newcastle didn't beat them by more than one goal on Saturday.

"I know we haven't really got many wins under the belt but by the same token that's only two games in 10 that we've actually lost so we are proving very difficult to beat," said Foster.

"We just need to get a few more goals and get a few more wins.

"Thankfully, the results went our way at the weekend. We're kind of getting away with it at the minute and riding our luck but we do need to get some wins under our belt."

Albion are slowly getting dragged into the relegation dog fight, and still need 11 points from their remaining 13 games to hit the magical 40-point mark.

Albion's next five league games are the daunting prospect of Everton, Crystal Palace, Leicester, Manchester United and Arsenal.

"I think we need three or four more wins to get us safe and that will be about it," said Foster, who praised the fans for making the long journey north on Saturday.

"Fair play to the following support that came and got behind us but we were a bit short."

The England keeper doesn't expect Newcastle to be near the relegation zone for much longer.

"They were brilliant, they were on the front foot from the very first minute, they were whipping balls into the box right left and centre and they put us under the cosh from the first minute," he said.

"Fair play to them, they've spent a bit of cash, you can see the quality they've got in the team, Andros Townsend and Jonjo Shelvey, they're the sort of players who will get you out of trouble when you're in it."
