West Brom assistant boss Dave Kemp reckons Salomon Rondon's Swansea late show will help boost the striker's confidence.

The Baggies' record signing salvaged a valuable point with a 92nd minute equaliser in Tuesday's 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns.

It was just his fifth goal for the club following a £12million move from Zenit St Petersburg last summer.

But it was his second in the space of a fortnight, after he also grabbed the only goal in an FA Cup third round replay win at Bristol City.

Rondon has otherwise struggled for form, with Baggies boss Tony Pulis admitting the 26-year-old has taken time to adapt to the Premier League.

Kemp, the club's assistant head coach, hopes the striker's recent success will go some way to blowing away the cobwebs.

He said: "We want him to get back to the level of a regular player.

"His confidence dropped a little bit, but he scored here, scored the winner at Bristol City and hopefully he can take that on and keep producing some good form.

"We're just trying to get him right so he's playing at his best quite frankly. His best would be more than good enough. You try to get players to play at their maximum potential

"When he first came, he was very impressive but he didn't score the chances he had and his confidence dropped a bit.

"Now he has come up with a couple of goals hopefully he can take that on and play consistently well."

Despite offering encouragement for Rondon, Kemp was left frustrated by Albion's failure to take their chances earlier in the game.

Captain Darren Fletcher missed several good chances to open the scoring, before Gylfi Sigurdsson put the visitors ahead, and Kemp believes poor finishing is piling the pressure on the Baggies.

He said: "We need to work on our finishing. We're not getting in front when perhaps we should be and it puts pressure on you.

"What can happen, happened on Tuesday night, someone can score and then you're up against it. He (Fletcher) had a couple of great chances with headers.

"They were more like defensive headers rather than attacking headers, they were two great clearances.

"If he'd headed them down, if he'd get another chance again he'd probably put them in.

"Obviously if you're 1-0 down in the 90th minute and you get a goal you're grateful for the point you've got.

"But I felt we played well enough to win it. I think we had something like 18 shots, their goalkeeper has made some really good saves."
