WATCH: Chelsea eyeing big-money Saido swoop

Chelsea are believed to be eyeing up a swoop for Albion striker Saido Berahino.

The two clubs battled out a pulsating 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge which Berahino featured in as a substitute.

Tottenham are still favourite to sign him in the January transfer window, even though Stoke and Newcastle are also interested, because Berahino himself would prefer a move to White Hart Lane.

However, it is understood that Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace is not going to shift from his valuation of Berahino which stalled the deal with Spurs in the summer, even though the striker hasn't started the last 11 games under Tony Pulis.

It would take more than £20m to encourage Peace to sell in January - a window he dislikes doing business in - but Chelsea have the funds to launch such a bid and are in desperate need of back-up for Diego Costa and Loic Remy.

Last night, Albion were far more attacking than usual away from home and they were rewarded for their adventure with a James McClean equaliser four minutes from time.

"We just felt there were certain things to do during the game that might cause them problems," said Pulis. "We didn't want to come and sit and we pressed them early on.

"I was very pleased after the game that we got something out of it because the lads worked hard enough to get something out of the game. We need 13 points to get to 40, it's such a relentless league."

Both teams were lucky to keep 11 men on the pitch with Diego Costa his usual bullish self up front for Chelsea, but Pulis did not complain about the Spanish international.

"He's competitive," said Pulis. "He leads the line well, he does things defenders don't like and he's got an edge to him. I was brought up in the 70s."

Meanwhile, Albion have not tabled a £7.5m bid for 29-year-old Angers midfielder Cheikh N'Doye, as was being reported in France, and Bournemouth have shown an interest in taking winger Callum McManaman on loan.
