The 18-year-old opened the scoring in a 3-0 win over Swansea under-21s on Monday night, pouncing on a blocked Berahino shot before coolly tucking the ball in.

He then repaid the favour to last season's first-team top scorer, winning a penalty in the 80th minute, which Berahino converted.

Campbell played as an out-and-out striker while Berahino dropped deeper into a No 10 role, and the youngster enjoyed linking up with the senior player.

He said: "Saido has got lots of experience. I just love playing with him and learning from him. He helps me a lot."

The young forward has a frightening turn of pace, which he used to good effect on Monday.

He also linked up impressively on a couple of occasions with senior winger Callum McManaman, particularly in the first-half.

Campbell said: "It was a really nice to play with some of the senior lads. It felt like we had a real edge over our opponents, so it was good to play in the game."

For his goal, Campbell pulled off the centre-back to win half a yard of space. It was movement praised by under-21s coach James Shan afterwards.

He went out on loan to Kidderminster Harriers earlier this season, although he didn't score in 15 appearances for the Reds.

But the youngster was pleased with what he learnt playing for the National League's bottom club.

He said: "It was different for me, it was a good learning experience. I feel like I've used that and I'm just building and building.

"My plan is to go out on loan again soon. I'm just trying to have good performances in the under-21s and hopefully attract some attention."

There were plenty of scouts at Monday's game who saw Campbell's goal, adding: "The loan window re-opens in January so, hopefully, I'll go out then."
