Ally Robertson comment: West Bromwich Albion should sell Saido Berahino if the price is right

With the next transfer window rapidly approaching and Tottenham at The Hawthorns on Saturday, Saido Berahino's future is again likely to come under the spotlight.

My view is if Albion get the right offer next month, it might be time to cash in on the young striker.

The deal may work out best for both parties.

Berahino has made no secret of his desire to move to a bigger club and better himself. For Albion, selling him would provide the funds to go and strengthen further.

I think, for the player, it has been a difficult time. There has certainly been too much in the press from both sides.

If you spoke to most fans, they would say Berahino has not quite been at 100 per cent since the summer, even though he has scored some important goals.

I'm not saying for one second it is down to a lack of effort on his part. Once you have got it into your head you want to leave, as he clearly did in the summer, it is hard to get those thoughts out.

You also have to look at the big picture and whether he fits in with how the head coach wants to play. I thought it was very telling that at West Ham on Sunday, with the team trailing 1-0, it was Rickie Lambert who Tony Pulis turned to and not Saido.

There could be numerous reasons why he has been relegated to the bench for the past month or so but I think if Albion get an offer which suits them in January, they should not stand in his way.

As things turned out, the decision to bring on Lambert proved precisely the correct one at Upton Park as the former Liverpool man inspired the comeback.

I felt, on the whole, it was a very good performance and an excellent result. Certainly, we would have taken the draw before kick-off.

Lambert was excellent but I thought the second half display on the whole epitomised just what a good side we can be when we play two men up front.

I'm hoping we see the same formation from the start against Spurs on Saturday. I've always felt we should be playing two up front at home, though whether Mr Pulis sees it in quite the same way is another matter.

Saturday represents another chance to maintain the momentum we've established with these past two results. It was important to back up the win over Arsenal with something from Upton Park and we did just that. Now there is the chance for a third straight positive result against a London club.

A win would be fantastic but a point more than welcome. At the moment we have established a nice cushion over those sides struggling at the bottom and it is important that is maintained.
