Video: James Chester signs for Albion in £8m deal

West Brom have confirmed the signing of defender James Chester from Hull City in a deal worth up to £8million.more

The 26-year-old has signed a four-year deal at the Hawthorns and becomes just the club's second signing of the summer.

Albion fought off late competition from Leicester to secure the defender's services.

Baggies boss Tony Pulis said: "James did very well for Hull City. I've had a good chat with him and he's the type of player I like.

"He is a good player who can play anywhere along the back line and I'm confident he will get better with age."

Chester, born in Warrington, started his career at Manchester United but made one first-team appearance.

After loan spells at Peterborough, Plymouth and Carlisle, he moved to Hull in January 2011. Chester made a total of 171 appearances for Hull, finding the net eight times while he also has six senior caps for Wales.
