Further goals from Victor Anichebe and Stephane Sessegnon added to an emphatic scoreline at the County Ground.

But Tony Pulis's team were given a decent argument by Mark Cooper's Robins in a competitive encounter.

Albion raced into a ninth minute lead when Morrison powered home from 20 yards, following a poor clearance from the home side.

A Baggies corner-kick was unconvincingly hacked away only as far as the edge of the box where Morrison was left in acres of space to drill home off the near post.

Anichebe could have made it 2-0 a minute later but he drilled just wide from a tight angle.

The Nigerian made no mistake on 23 minutes, though, when he pounced on a woeful back pass by Yaser Kasim to slot home from close range.

Craig Gardner of West Bromwich Albion helps to calm the situation between James McLean after he attempted to hit Nathan Thompson.

Swindon then failed to test Albion goalkeeper Boaz Myhill with a handful of long range efforts.

But Kasim made amends for his earlier blunder when he drilled home from the edge of the box 13 minutes before half-time.

The striker was afforded too much space to get his shot away, but the accuracy of the effort was top notch.

The half ended on a worrying note for the Baggies as Gareth McAuley limped off on 42 minutes to be replaced by Liam O'Neil.

Albion made no changes at the break, while Swindon replaced goalkeeper Tyrell Belford with Laurence Vigouroux.

Stewart should have made it 2-2 six minutes after the break, but he could only blaze high over the bar from close range after great work from Nathan Byrne.

A wave of substitutions midway through the half took some of the sting out of what had been a lively game, but Gardner could have made it 3-1 with 20 minutes remaining when he chested down Morrison's excellent long range pass.

Unfortunately for him, the Swindon goalkeeper was equal to the effort.

He did even better to punch Morrison's searching cross away soon afterwards with Brown Ideye steaming in to take advantage of any mistake.

Ideye should have done better with 13 minutes left when he went one on one with Vigouroux, but couldn't squeeze his shot past the Swindon goalkeeper from just a few yards out.

Morrison made no mistake though five minutes from time when he slotted home from an excellent Sessegnon through-ball.

And Sessegnon made it 4-1 a minute later with a predatory finish, after the goalkeeper could only parry a long range effort into his path.
