Albion have warned QPR they will not meet their £10m asking price for top transfer target Matt Phillips.moreThe Baggies are considering alternative targets after Rangers refused to budge on their valuation of the 24-year-old.

And Tony Pulis is ready to move on unless the London club lower their sights.

Albion had an initial offer of £5m rejected at the weekend for the former Blackpool man but remained optimistic a compromise could be found with QPR, who need to offload players following their relegation from the Premier League.

But so far Loftus Road officials have dug their heels in and Pulis is ready to look elsewhere after ruling that the £10m valuation is too high.

He has already signed Wigan winger James McClean and wants another wide option before the season kicks off at home to Manchester City on August 10.

Albion had hoped to have Phillips on board before the squad flew to America on Sunday for their second pre-season tour.

And they still believe common ground can be found with Rangers over the transfer fee with Phillips keen to make the move.

But the current impasse in negotiations dragging on further into the transfer window.

They will visit the County Ground on Saturday July 25 (3pm), for their first fixture on English soil this summer after their return from the United States.
