West Brom close to signing James McClean

West Brom look set to complete the signing of Wigan Athletic winger James McClean later today.

Albion had a bid for McClean, believed to be in the region of £1.5million, accepted last week and spent the weekend finalising the deal.

McClean scored 11 goals in 87 appearances for Wigan and was voted player of the year last season but couldn't prevent the Latics being relegated into League One.

The move to the Hawthorns gives the 26-year-old a chance to play in the Premier League again, following an earlier spell at Sunderland.
