Boss Southgate reckons Berahino can fly under the radar in the Czech Republic thanks to the hype surrounding Young Lions team-mate Harry Kane.

Berahino was the 10-goal leading scorer in qualifying for the tournament but Kane's prolific season for Tottenham and his debut goal for the full England side saw him steal the headlines. However, Southgate believes Berahino can surprise opponents.

He said: "Saido is a quality finisher. If you put sessions on, the quality of his shooting is very good.

"I think he will have been overlooked by other countries with Harry being in the squad.

"But I don't think that is a bad thing because he can have a real impact."

Berahino is expected to start in England's final warm-up game against Belarus at Barnsley tonight with Kane set to be among the substitutes after linking up with the squad on Tuesday following an extended break.

The pair formed a potent pairing in the qualifying campaign and Southgate believes Berahino has benefited from working with Baggies head coach Tony Pulis. Berahino ended the season with 20 goals in all competitions and credited Pulis with helping him improve his all-round game.

"I think it would have been an interesting season for him, first of all in terms of establishing himself in West Brom's team and getting himself as first choice," said Southgate.
