Foster is on course to return to action in mid-October, but admits he cannot rush his comeback from a ruptured cruciate ligament.

The England gloveman will join former Wolves midfielder Geoff Thomas's fundraising London-Paris cycle ride as part of his training.

He's also planning to link up with London 2012 triathlon hero Brownlee as part of a drive to vary his training.

Foster said: "It's progressing every week. I can start doing a little bit more and I can do more dynamic stuff.

"We are hoping to go up to Leeds in the next couple of weeks to do some training with Jonathan Brownlee."

Brownlee claimed Olympic bronze in London behind brother Alistair, who won gold, and he will now help Foster as he targets an autumn recovery.

Foster said: "You can't get ahead of schedule with a cruciate. It's a six-month minimum and you can't come back any earlier.

"They had to drill holes and take tendon away, attach it all in and screw it so it takes time to knit in properly.

"We are looking at mid-October. You have to do the six months, I knew that from the start so there is no point getting down about it.

"It is going really really well, touchwood it continues that way as well. So far I have had no setbacks or no twinges or pain, the rehab is going well.

"We have a new physio this year called Fraser McKinney who has jumped straight in with me and has been looking after me from day one.

"The rehab has been good and varied, I have been able to make use of lots of different venues, different gyms and different places to go and train so I haven't been bored."
