The 29-year-old, who arrived at the Hawthorns from Middlesbrough in 2007, topped an online poll conducted by the club to scoop the award.

Morrison, who is the club's longest-serving player, received 32.5 per cent of the public vote following an impressive individual display in 2014-15.

The announcement was made yesterday and he said:

"I am really pleased to have won the award because we have got such a quality squad now.

"Thanks to all the fans for all your support throughout the season."

Morrison has been a mainstay in the team this season, clocking up 37 appearances in all competitions, and scoring four goals.

He scored the winner in a 1-0 triumph at Spurs on September 21 as well as the Baggies' sixth goal in their 7-0 home rout of Gateshead in the FA Cup on January 3.

Morrison was also on target in the 4-0 hammering of West Ham United at the Hawthorns on February 14.

And he netted a second minute opener in the superb 2-0 win at Crystal Palace last month as Tony Pulis's side finished a solid campaign with a flourish.

They finished 13th in the division, a comfortable nine points clear of the relegation zone

Meanwhile supporters can now purchase tickets for the club's summer pre-season friendly against Red Bull Salzburg in Austria.

Tony Pulis' squad will be put through their paces during a week-long training trip to Austria, which includes a friendly against Red Bulls on Wednesday, July 8 (6pm).

The club has confirmed that the match will go ahead at Athletic Area, Schladming, an Austrian town between Salzburg and Graz. Tickets are 10euros and will be available on the gate but Baggies fans are advised the venue only has a capacity of 700. Email office@footballcampstyria.com
