West Brom boss Tony Pulis insists the club would not stand in Saido Berahino's way if a Premier League 'big boy' stumps up the cash to buy his star player.

Pulis says he wants Berahino to stay at The Hawthorns but would not block a move to a club in the Champions League.

Berahino has struck 20 goals in all competitions this season and Pulis said: "The most important thing for Saido, as I said when I first walked through the door of the football club, was to concentrate on his football.

"If he plays well then hopefully for him and for everyone else a top four club might come in.

"West Bromwich Albion will not stop him as long as the deal is right for the football club we will not stop him joining a top-four club.

“We hope and pray that he stays with us because he’s got a lot more to come and we don’t think he is at the end of his development.

"If a top four club comes in and the clubs agree a fee then fine, it's all done, people can shake hands and say what a great job he has done for the football club.

"Not only has he been here since he was a young lad and we have looked after him, but the club have made money on him and we have to re-invest in other people - that's a fact of life.

"What I don't like is the times where people are actually pushing people and pushing people and it takes the young lads away from what - for me - their life should be about.

"And that is playing football, trying to improve, trying to get better and helping their clubs to improve and get better.

"I think Saido has been in the shop window for the last year or so, I think people have been talking about him and rightly so. As I've said before there is no problem with that, every football club understands that.

"The most important thing is that Saido keeps that to one side and concentrates on his football because that is why people are talking about him, because he has played well on the pitch and done the business on the pitch and has got his head down and really worked hard.

"If you look at his running stats against Chelsea they are absolutely fantastic - never mind the two goals he scored. The kid has gone to a different level in respect of the effort and commitment he is putting in for the team because it is a team game."
