Robson, who led the Baggies to the 'Great Escape' 10 years ago today, believes Pulis can get the club challenging for a place in the Europa League.

The Welshman has secured a sixth successive season in the top flight for Albion and Robson, who also launched his illustrious playing career with the club, believes they can build on survival.

"I went to West Brom when I was 13 years old and I had some fantastic times there," he said.

"West Brom fans are always brilliant with me whenever I go back, so I love to see them doing well.

"To be fair to the chairman (Jeremy Peace), he's built the club up so they've now got a great stadium and a great training ground.

"And West Brom have always had 22,000-23,000 hardcore fans who stick with them through good times and bad, so everything they need to be successful is in place.

"They are a club who can do better than they have in the last couple of years and hopefully, now they have stayed up this season, they can do that under Tony Pulis.

"They have a good manager in place and, if they can have a good summer, there's no reason why they can't be in the top half of the table and pushing for European places."

But Robson believes Albion must back Pulis in the transfer market, with the current Hawthorns head coach planning a major overhaul of his squad this summer.

"A manager is only ever as good as his players, so it's important a manager is allowed to bring in the players he needs," added Robson.

"I've always said that great players make great managers, good players make good managers and poor players make hopeless managers.

"But Tony has a great record, and if he can get the squad he wants I'm sure he will do well."
