Pulis and Albion confirmed their place in the top flight next season with a 1-1 draw at Newcastle on Saturday.

And Pulis revealed the "weight of the world" had been on his shoulders since taking over in January.

The Welshman, who kept Crystal Palace up against all the odds last season, said: "We're delighted that the job has been accomplished.

"We're very pleased. With the form of the bottom six or seven clubs at the back end of the season it was important that we picked points up.

"Playing Palace away is never easy, then we drew with Liverpool, beat Manchester United and drew with Newcastle.

"They're fantastic results for the club and it's got us over the line. This is the toughest one I've had and there has been a lot of work put in behind the scenes.

"You get there through organisation and discipline and plenty of effort and commitment and everybody being together to get the results.

"It's a relentless league and it's very difficult managing at the bottom, because you have the weight of the world on your shoulders.

"That's not just because of the crowd or the fact you can lose that status, but also because of the money that's involved now. You take that into account and there is enormous pressure.

"You have to manage that pressure, but sure if you get bad results you don't show it and you keep driving the players forwards. Luckily, we've managed to do it again."

Albion's final two fixtures are against Chelsea at home next Monday and Arsenal at the Emirates Satdium the following Sunday.

And Pulis insists they cannot switch off despite clinching safety, saying: "we have a responsibility to our club."
