McManaman made his first Hawthorns appearance since February, as a substitute in Saturday's goalless draw with Liverpool, and excited supporters with some jinking runs after a foot injury.

And Morrison, who ended Saturday's game with a gash above his eye after a collision with Martin Skrtel, believes McManaman will get better when his fitness improves.

Morrison said: "Callum is an exciting player and he's learning every week. Once we get his fitness up, he will be even better.

"He is eager to impress because he's he's been hampered with injury since he came in and I'm sure he will look forward to a few games now and then look forward to next season."

"He wants to play. We joke about the fact we haven't seen him since that FA Cup Final so he's got something to prove to show the fans what he's about.

"He showed glimpses and if he gets his fitness up he will be a bonus for us and I won't have to play on the wing!"

Morrison was injured in a clash of heads with Skrtel as he headed a McManaman cross at goal, drawing a fine save from goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

The Scotland international said: "He (Skrtel) has absolutely smashed me to be fair, but I could see it coming. I'd hoped there was a bit more pace on the ball.

"If there had been then I would've scored. Mignolet got his fingers on to it so it was a good save from him. I said not to stitch it up as it would be too sore.

"So they've glued it together for the moment."

Albion moved to 37 points with their draw against the Reds but Morrison is refusing to take safety for granted.

He said: "You can never be sure. We have to keep doing our job, take each game as it comes and look forward to the challenges of Manchester United, Newcastle, Chelsea and Arsenal."
