West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace has promised boss Tony Pulis that a potential takeover will not drag on and scupper his summer transfer plans.

Peace hopes to flush out bids from potential investors by the end of June, after receiving enquiries from several foreign groups about a possible sale for up to £200million.

And Pulis has revealed a promise from Peace that the issue will be resolved early in the summer, so the head coach can press ahead with plans to revamp the squad.

"He's given us that promise that he won't be hanging around," said Pulis.

"If there's an offer there and there's a deal to be done, he'll want it done before a certain date, and if that doesn't happen then he'll commit himself to the club again.

"I don't think he wants to sell it to just anybody, they have to be the right people who are going to invest and look after the club.

"He's spent a lot of time here and invested a lot of money into the football club to put it where it is. If you look at the stadium the academy set-up, the training ground facilities and everything else.

"This club has moved on very well and they make a profit every year, so he hasn't done too bad a job."

And Pulis has reiterated that he will call the shots on transfers as he gears up for a big summer of recruitment.

"We've got a scouting network in place and they've been out all season looking at players," he said.

"I'll look at what they've got. They've come to us with some players that we've been able to go out and have a look at, but it's a process that goes on at most clubs.

"As long as I'm picking the players, I don't care what system is in place."
