The Baggies have back-to-back home games against QPR and Leicester, both of whom are currently in the bottom three.

Striker Ideye, who is facing a race to recover from a knee injury in time for Saturday's showdown with Rangers, believes two wins will be all it takes to say with confidence Albion's safety is secure.

"I think we should go for six," he said, when asked how many more points are needed. "People mention three but I'm not confident with three.

"In football you don't know what will happen in the next minute so getting six points for us would be good.

"The next two games are massive. We are playing at home so we have to concentrate on giving our fans what we need, which is three points, so we have to go for it and make sure we grab it."

After struggling through the first half of the season - to the point where he was close to being sold to Qatari club Al Gharafi in January - Ideye has scored five goals in his last eight games.

But the 26-year-old, a club record £10million signing from Dynamo Kiev last summer, insists there has been no significant change in his approach since the arrival of new head coach Tony Pulis.

"Even when things weren't going well with me I kept on working hard," he said.

"It was unfortunate that things only turned out this when when Tony was here but I had a chat with him and he told me to keep on working hard.

"That's what I was doing even when Alan Irvine was here and things just didn't work out the way they were supposed to be.

"But I am enjoying my football right now and I will just take it one step at a time.

"He told me to work hard for the team as everyone is doing right now. Being in the first XI is hard but his approach is giving us results."
