West Brom boss Tony Pulis has insisted Albion have other options if they fail to clinch a deal for top target Callum McManaman.

The Baggies have made two unsuccessful bids for the Wigan winger and are expected to make a third offer this week worth around £5million.

But Pulis, who has added former Stoke coach Mark O'Connor to his backroom staff, claims McManaman is not the club's only option.

He said: "It is going on along with two or three others. We are exploring the situation to see if we can bring him in.

"We need to decide if it's a good deal for us or not and it has to be right for everyone. The clubs have to agree but it's got to be right for the player as well.

"We know where we need improve and where we'd like to improve and that's what we're working on. We're hoping things will drop for us.

"If it's not McManaman we've got irons in the fire with two or three others we'd like to bring in."

Pulis confirmed he had held talks with Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher, who looks likely to leave Old Trafford this month.

And he revealed he has appointed O'Connor to replace Paul Jewell, who left the coaching staff after just six days.

O'Connor worked with Pulis at Stoke and has been working at Bristol City as an academy coach.

Pulis has an injury concern over midfielder James Morrison for Saturday's trip to Birmingham City in the FA Cup.

Defender Jonas Olsson is still recovering from Achilles surgery, while midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu is on African Cup of Nations duty.
