Albion boss Tony Pulis has revealed he wants a new striker in the January transfer window – to play alongside leading scorer Saido Berahino.

Pulis has again insisted he does not want to sell Berahino, who bagged his 14th goal of the season to give the Baggies victory over Hull at The Hawthorns on Saturday.

But the new head coach wants another striker too after record signing Brown Ideye missed a fabulous chance against the Tigers and with Victor Anichebe and Georgios Samaras struggling to make an impact. "Saido scored and he struck his shot from the free-kick well, which is pleasing," said Pulis.

"I'm not going to say we won't sell him because if a stupid offer comes in I would look stupid.

"But I will tell you this, we are looking for another striker and if we get another striker in and we keep him that will make my day. We are desperate to get in another striker to go with him."

Pulis won his first Premier League game in charge of the Baggies but the Welshman again insisted his record of never suffering relegation as a manager does not guarantee his new club survival.

"When you've done it before on a regular basis, people think you will do it again but complacency is the worst word in the dictionary for me," he said.

"If you start becoming complacent in sport or in life, you start going backwards."
