Four-goal West Brom star Saido Berahino insists he will shrug off transfer speculation this month.

But the young striker has refused to elaborate on why he failed to celebrate his match-winning performance in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Berahino netted four times in the Baggies' 7-0 third-round win over Gateshead but both he and fellow scorer Victor Anichebe opted not to celebrate their goals.

Berahino has been linked with big-money bids from Tottenham and Liverpool but it is understood Spurs are not interested while the Baggies have yet to receive any enquiries for the 21-year-old.

"I just have to do what I do on the pitch," said Berahino, who has had contract talks put on hold by the Baggies amid concerns about his attitude.

"I'm a West Bromwich Albion player and I've just got to perform for them.

"I just ignore the stories and I don't really read anything into it.

"Newspapers have said bad things about me so I'm not really fussed what they have to say about where I'm going or what will happen. I just ignore it all."

Berahino's four-goal burst on Saturday took his tally to five in two games and 13 for the season after a barren spell that stretched back to October.

He cut a strangely dispirited figure after scoring each of his goals but refused to explain his actions in detail.

"I was just handling business and acting professionally and that's it," he said. "There's no need for me to explain myself on not celebrating goals. It is what it is.

"I was just acting professionally and I didn't celebrate and that was it."

Berahino's goals helped new Baggies head coach Tony Pulis make a winning start to his Hawthorns reign.

"He has been great," said the striker. "We all know he's a big character in the game and he's stamped his authority already."
