It may be early days but goalkeeper Ben Foster is hopeful West Brom might finally be finding some long-lost stability.

The Baggies head to Loftus Road tomorrow looking to extend a two-game unbeaten run, which began with the 0-0 draw at Hull and carried on with last Saturday's derby win over Villa.Another positive result would see the pressure ease on head coach Alan Irvine still further, while defeat to a team currently in the bottom three would pile it all back on.

Such is the fragile nature of the revival at present and the head coach's position.

Unsurprisingly, Foster is keen to state the need for cool heads.

"It would be awful if something was to happen with the gaffer," he said.

"I can't say enough good things about him. Everyone will say the same thing. We all know what we are doing, we've all got game plans, there is a lot more structure to it now than what there has been.

"The stability hasn't been there. We just need to bear with it and hopefully we can start picking up points and crack on again."

While Irvine unquestionably has doubters on the terraces, the dressing room appears right behind him.

Gareth McAuley echoed similar sentiments to Foster only seven days ago, while midfielder Craig Gardner's instinct after bagging the winner against Villa was to run directly to the Scot and high-five him.

"That showed the support for the manager," said Foster of the celebration. "The gaffer is great, he is fantastic with us.

"We want to get results. We really want to do well for him and the fans. Hopefully we can move forward."

Fan discontent may be understandable but the England shot-stopper is keen to preach patience.

"They've got to stick with it," he went on. "I can understand their frustration because they want to see their team winning.

"The gaffer has got his plans and he knows what to do. You've just got to stick with it. We are all fighting 110 per cent for the gaffer.

"I don't think you would find anyone in the team who has a bad word to say about him. Hull was a big one, a nil-nil and that's two clean sheets on the bounce which gives us a bit of confidence.

"Villa was more for the fans than the gaffer. The gaffer would have been quite needlessly under pressure after that game if we had lost.

"Everyone was out there giving it their everything, we were really happy for the fans because it is a good few years since we last had a win against Villa."

Having been criticised at times this season for an unadventurous style, Foster felt Albion showed more of an attacking intent against Villa.

He believes improved results could bring players' natural flair rising to the surface.

"The only thing we've been working on is trying to be a bit more adventurous and trying to get in behind teams," he added.

"If you've got the points on the board it is easier to do that than if in a relegation scrap.

"As long you don't finish in that bottom three that is the be all and end all."
