West Brom defender Jason Davidson may seek a loan move to keep alive his Asian Cup hopes. The left-back has failed to nail down a regular spot since signing from Dutch side Heracles in the summer.

Australia coach Ange Postecoglou wants his players in regular action as the Asian Cup approaches in January.

And Davidson admits he may need a temporary move if he continues not to feature with Albion after featuring just five times.

Davidson, who has played just twice in the Premier League, said: "If I need to get out on loan to make sure I’m starting for the Socceroos in the Asia Cup, then that’s what I’ll try to do.

“I know my situation at my club and I’m happy with it. I’m just trying to work hard.”

Davidson’s only two appearances since the start of September have both been in the League Cup, in the 2-1 loss to Bournemouth and the 3-2 win over Hull City.

His last Premier League start came at the end of August, in the 3-0 away loss to Swansea. But the 23-year-old, who played all three games for the Socceroos, is happy to play the ‘long game.'

He said: "I’m developing at every training session, and that’s the most important thing for me as a player in the long-term.

“It was a great move for me, going to what I think is the biggest league in the world. Unfortunately, because of my old club I missed pre-season.

“The team has been doing really well at the moment so it’s hard for me to break into the team. I’m happy to be in a team that has 14 or 15 internationals, training with them.

“The squad has some depth and it’s a long season so I’m just trying to work hard, really get fit and when the opportunity comes make sure I’m ready.”

On his Socceroos spot, he added: “It’s up to the gaffer to decide.”
