Albion hero Darren Moore believes international recognition is just the "tip of the iceberg" for Saido Berahino.

The 21-year-old striker could become the first outfield Baggies player to play for England in 30 years when Roy Hodgson's side take on Scotland in a friendly tomorrow night. Moore, who is now back at Albion coaching the club's pro development phase players, believes Berahino has set an example for others to follow and believes the young striker will only get better.

"The beautiful thing about him is he is still a work in progress. Look where he is now but he will feel he is still not the finished article – which is great," said Moore, who made 116 appearances and experienced two promotions while at the Hawthorns.

"He will continue to work and to get full recognition for the national team is great work and testament to where he is as an individual.

"We at the club feel very, very proud, he should feel very, very proud – but again this is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of where he wants to go. He wants to continue scoring goals for West Bromwich Albion and doing that it has put him in the frame for the national team."Fair play to him he has continued scoring his goals and Roy Hodgson has given him the call up he deserves."

West Brom legend Darren Moore

Steve Hunt was the last outfield Albion player to feature for England, back in 1984.

Moore thinks Berahino has what it takes to be a star on the international stage.

"The calibre of players he is going to be around can only do him good," he said.

"I think the first team players at West Brom are a good bunch, he's been around it for a couple of seasons now so he knows what's expected. But he's playing against top opposition and he's got some good games coming up against top quality opponents and he never seems to be out of place with it. He looks every bit the part."
