Albion are considering a January facelift of their squad as Alan Irvine fine-tunes plans for the second half of the season.

The Baggies, who are traditionally quiet in January transfer windows, are eyeing up targets as they look to continue the major overhaul that began in the summer.

They are prioritising wingers and strikers after recruiting 10 new faces in the close season, while they could receive bids from rival clubs for out-of-favour duo Jonas Olsson and Claudio Yacob.

Despite their mass recruitment following the departure of 13 players, the Baggies hierarchy acknowledge the squad requires further tinkering.

Head coach Irvine said: "It wasn't possible to do all the homework that we'd like to do because of the circumstances.

"I had suddenly landed in this job, there were 13 players who had gone and there was a great big hole that needed to be filled as soon as possible.

"With some of the boys we got to see them playing in the World Cup and with others we didn't get a chance to see them doing anything.

"We were trying to do as much homework as we possibly could and the recruitment department knew a lot of these players from watching them for a long time, but it wasn't something I was doing.

"I would hope that in future transfer windows there is a much more joined-up approach than was possible in this one."

Olsson, 31, has just 18 months remaining on his contract and is a long-standing target for QPR boss Harry Redknapp.

Yacob was the subject of interest from clubs in Russia in the summer and, while that possible exit route was closed, Albion anticipate fresh enquiries for the Argentina international midfielder, who has also lost his first-team spot.
