West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster claims team-mate Saido Berahino has matured this season and will join him in the England squad.

Foster has been impressed with the way the 21-year-old striker has grown both physically and mentally.

He thinks Berahino's transition from boy to man is down to a hard-work ethic which has improved his fitness.

Foster said: "Saido Berahino, from two years ago when he was getting little injuries and niggles, has completely turned it around.

"He is always in the gym and watches what he eats. He's always working on the training ground and it is nice to see because with someone of that age it is very rare you see that.

"He's always one of the first ones in. He will do a lot in the gym. He's like a man on the pitch now, whereas a couple of years ago he was almost like a boy. It's good to see."

Berahino is the top English scorer in the Premier League and has netted eight in all competitions so far.

He's being tipped for a senior England call-up later this week for the Euro 2016 qualifier with Slovenia and the friendly with Scotland.

Foster feels he should be in the squad but admits that, even if the striker again misses out, it is only a matter of time before he gets his chance.

He said: "Without a doubt, he should (be in). He's the top English scorer in the league and I think he has a great shout.

"I think we're quite lucky he's been playing week in, week out and scoring the goals he has scored.

"Whether he's in it or not this time, he is one for the future and will be in it at some point."

And Foster admitted to being asked about the striker by Roy Hodgson and members of the England coaching staff.

He said: "Everyone spoke to me about him. The coaches, Ray Lewington and Gary Neville. They keep very close tabs on him."
