And we want Baggies fans to play a part in the Express & Star's coverage of the momentous event.

We'd like you to send us your memories of 'Bomber' and we will include the best entries in the newspaper next week as we help Albion honour the career of a true West Midlands footballing legend.

Were you at Ipswich in September, 1963, when Brown scored in a victory on his Baggies debut?

Perhaps you were at Wembley in 1968 when 'Bomber' helped his side win the FA Cup as his great friend, the legendary Jeff Astle, scored the only goal in the final against Everton?

Maybe you went to Oldham in 1976 to see Brown score the goal that clinched promotion back to the First Division for Johnny Giles' Baggies?

Or perhaps you were at Old Trafford at Christmas in 1978 when he scored two of Albion's goals in their 5-3 victory over Manchester United in one of the most famous games in the club's history.

Maybe you went to them all or, even better, do you have a personal favourite memory of 'Bomber' from a less famous occasion or do you cherish one of his goals in a derby against Villa or Wolves?

Or have you ever had the chance to meet the great man and how did it come about?

In almost 20 years at The Hawthorns he made 720 appearances and scored 279 goals – both club records – and created a lifetime of memories along the way.

But we want to hear yours to make our coverage personal to the fans.

E-mail your thoughts to s.madeley@expressandstar.co.uk, write 'Bomber Memories' in the subject line, include your name and address and we will do our best to print as many as possible next week.
