Alan Irvine today told Albion fans "I'll get it right" as he admitted he is under pressure just five games into his reign.

The Baggies boss came out fighting as he prepared his side for tomorrow's trip to Tottenham with some fans already calling for his head.

Irvine has not won in four Premier League games in charge ,with Albion scraping past League Two side Oxford on penalties in the Capital One Cup to give him his only victory so far.

That has led to calls for an immediate change from some fans after Irvine's appointment in the summer was greeted with anger by the Baggies public.

But the Scot, whose team have lost to Swansea and Everton in their last two outings, said: "We all want the same thing. We all want great results.

"For any supporter to think we're not all disappointed with the last two results would be wrong.

"We're massively disappointed and it takes an awfully long time to get over a defeat when you're a player or a coach or manager.

"We need to all pull together. We need all the players and staff going in the same direction and it wouldn't half be helpful if all the fans were going in the same direction as well. I would like to hope I would be given that time as it has been a difficult set of circumstances.

"They are a really good group of players. I have really enjoyed working with them.

"They go about their work really well every day and I believe we will get the right results sooner rather than later.

"I'm working really hard, along with everybody else, to get this right and I believe we will get it right."

Irvine had all 25 senior players in training yesterday after Boaz Myhill, Youssouf Mulumbu, Stephane Sessegnon and Victor Anichebe returned from injury.

But Silvestre Varela still seems unlikely to figure because of a lack of match fitness and Irvine has hinted Joleon Lescott could miss out.

"He came back too early in pre-season because he was really eager to come back and felt he was right but he learned a lesson and we probably did too," said Irvine.

Former midfield favourite Jonathan Greening has signed for Albion – but he won't be returning to The Hawthorns.

Greening has decided to extend his playing career after joining brother Josh at Tadcaster Albion in the ninth tier of English football.

Greening made more than 200 appearances for Albion between 2004 and 2010.
