The striker's encouraging start has been one of the few highlights of a disappointing opening to the Alan Irvine era.

But the forward, who netted twice against Sunderland on the opening day before hitting another double for England Under-21s, insists he is still not satisfied.

"I am not pleased even though I have started well personally," said the 21-year-old, who is Albion's only Premier League scorer so far this term.

"At the end of the day it's about getting the points on the board and we haven't won a game yet.

"We are trying to stay together and I am trying to do the best I can to ensure we start getting some points on the board. We are all working towards that, we are all trying to gel and become a strong team to beat.

"We are working hard to become a good team going forward and also a team that scores lots of goals. In every game we are trying to improve."

Berahino lined up in partnership with record signing Brown Ideye for the first time in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at home to Everton as boss Irvine switched to a 4-4-2 system.

Ideye is yet to find form after his £10m move from Dynamo Kiev was followed by an extended wait for a visa.

But Berahino believes the pair can hit it off.

"I was confident and he was confident," said Berahino, who was Albion's nine-goal top scorer last season.

"I thought we both did well, we got the ball down and combined well. We were just unlucky not to get a goal between us and it was just one of those things that didn't go our way on Saturday.

"I understand fans' disappointment. Nobody likes to lose the way we did, conceding soft goals. We have to ensure it doesn't happen again."
