West Brom boss Alan Irvine hopes new-boy Sebastian Blanco can hit the ground running after becoming the Baggies' 11th signing of the summer.

The 26-year-old winger arrived from Metalist Kharkiv on Saturday for £1.6million and is expected to be the final new face at The Hawthorns in this transfer window.

And Irvine is now hoping the wide man can be ready to face Everton on September 13 when the Premier League returns from the international break.

He said: "He can play on either side, he's two footed, he's got great quality on the ball and delivers good crosses.

"He's a creator of chances and he also scores his share of goals – so I'm looking forward to working with him.

"I'm praying he's in good condition but he's another one who's not had a proper pre-season, so we will assess him this weekend.

"He will be in a group of lads who are going to be doing a mini pre-season next week with a view to being closer to available the following week."

Hawthorns officials expected a quiet deadline day. They cannot rule out a fourth bid from Burnley for Craig Dawson or renewed interest from Europe for Claudio Yacob but Irvine does not expect either player to leave.
