Jonas Olsson cancelled out Casemiro's opener late in the first-half to make it 1-1 at half-time.

But Martinez restored the lead on 51 minutes and extended it on 54.

Porto threatened first when Martinez cut in from the right and curled a left-footed shot just over the crossbar.

Andre Wisdom had to clear off the line after Cristian Tello's shot was deflected towards goal and, moments later, goalkeeper Ben Foster had to be alert to pluck a powerful effort from Danilo out of the air.

Porto bossed the game early on but their keeper, Andres, did superbly on the half-hour to deny Saido Berahino after the young Albion striker linked up well with Youssouf Mulumbu.

The visitors took the lead on 22 minutes when Tello's corner found Casemiro, who was worryingly unmarked to force home from a couple of yards.

The visitors continued to press, but the Baggies were level on the stroke of half-time.

A corner from Chris Brunt evaded Craig Dawson but was forced home by the head of Jonas Olsson, despite Oliver Torres' desperate attempts to clear off the line.

Porto were deservedly ahead again six minutes into the second half when half-time substitute Ricardo Quaresma beat Sebastien Pocognoli and crossed for an unmarked Martinez to head home.

And just three minutes later Martinez struck again with a brilliant first-time finish to convert Alex Sandro's cross.

Midway through the second-half, Foster in the Baggies goal made a fine, one-handed save away to his right to keep out Quaresma's long-range drive.

And, moments later, Olsson made a fine block to stop a shot from Sandro. Foster then made another smart save to deny Quaresma.
