The Baggies lost 3-1, despite Jonas Olsson cancelling out Casemiro's opener late in the first-half to make it 1-1 at half-time.

But Jackson Martinez restored the lead on 51 minutes and extended it on 54, with Irvine saying: "Porto are a top side.

"They pass the ball extremely well, they press really well. You can see Jackson is a top player.

"They are preparing for a Champions League qualifier next week and I'll be surprised if they don't win that qualifier next week.

"They're a very, very good side and it was as good a test as we could have chosen."
