The latest reports from France now claim that the 24-year-old is keeping interested clubs at bay in the hope that he can clinch a move to Arsenal.

The Baggies have been in talks with both Monaco and the player's representatives about a £6m deal and have already made progress in their efforts to settle the striker's hefty personal demands.

Albion already face competition from Premier League rivals Stoke and Newcastle but it now emerges that Riviere has told his agent that he does not wish to commit to any transfer until he knows whether or not Arsenal will follow through on reported interest.
