West Bromwich Albion set to ditch blue and white stripes

Albion look set to ditch their traditional blue and white stripes next season in favour of a new ‘pinstripe’ shirt.

West Brom set to ditch their blue and white striped shirt in favour of an all-white shirt with blue 'pinstripes'. Saido Berahino pictured in this seasons kit.

The Baggies are set to unveil next season’s kit in the next few weeks and it is understood the home shirt will be predominantly white with a narrow blue ‘pinstripe’.

If confirmed, the shirt will be the biggest break with Hawthorns tradition since the Second World War and the first time since the 1990s that Albion have broken away from their normal ‘even’ stripes.

The club today refused to comment but the shirt was pictured earlier this week ahead of a PR launch later this summer, and details were leaked into social media.

Sources told the Express & Star that the home shirt will be mainly white, although club insiders have insisted it will still feature a stripe.

That is expected to be narrow, however.

Pictures of the kit have not leaked out but manufacturers Adidas, with whom the club announced a new two-year deal last night, have previously redesigned Southampton’s famous red and white striped kit, replacing it with a predominantly red design.

Albion first played in blue and white stripes in the 1880s after a wide range of kits in their early years, and they have worn the colours since 1892, barring a five-year period in blue shirts and white shorts in the 1940s.

Albion kits down the year - In Pictures

They opted for their famous ‘barcode’ kit in the 1992-93 and 1993-94 seasons with the design, featuring blue stripes of varying widths, proving popular with supporters.

The Baggies will remain with the kit supplier until the end of the 2015-16 season.

The club switched two years ago after they ended their long-standing partnership with Umbro.

Albion’s kits for next season will be launched in the next few weeks.

Yuck!!!!

I didn't like the "barcode" shirt and if this one is anything like that one, I won't like that either. Looks like I'll be sticking with the current unbranded shirt.

No change please, it HAS to be Blue & White THICK stripes not this token pinstripe which I have seen

Also bring back the white shorts for the home kit

I see from the posts on your site that you lot are just as disgruntled with your new netto shirt!

Len of Bournville

Well, well. Just another Albion own goal, then.

Jeremy Peace has done a lot for this club, but is there anything he won't do to make more money ? Is he interested in what the fans think ?

CantelloRocket 78

So the headline says Albion are ditching their blue 'n' white stripes-

then it says the new shirts will be white, with err........blue stripes on them-

do I detect a little more familiar mischief making.........???

SammySix

Surely, the hierarchy should be keeping any vanity projects on the backburner following our season? Stabilise the club on the pitch first! Why make the change? Madness.

Jack the Hat

SammySix,

That comment isn't fair mate, even Liverpool would have struggled if they had gone through what we have. We can't tackle the unforeseen.

Yet another example of the Club ignoring the fans I fear.

I am a traditionalist we are BLUE and WHITE STRIPES

Can’t see them doing well at the Club Shop

KP2015

Don’t like the E&S mock up, this one’s OK though (and uses the proper navy blue) http://i59.tinypic.com/162bmp.jpg

Typical E&S mis-leading reporting re: West Brom as well; the top will be blue and white, and stripey; so how are they ditching blue and white stripes? Perhaps “West Bromwich Albion to ditch even width of stripes on next year’s shirt’” doesn’t quite make a news story.

We Only Need One Half!

Actually KP, that one looks a lot better.

The Real Bully Hoo.

I don't want to seem a dinosaur and that is actually a nice shirt but it's not an Albion shirt.

Okay as an away shirt.

I don't like the back being all white either.

So I won't be investing in it, it's a no from me.

Jack the Hat

One Half, everyone else included,

Good news: I have a ticket for our last match against Stoke, so I will be able to celebrate our stay in the Premiership with you all. Hope to meet as many of you as I can as I do want to say " Worrow " to you all. Its going to look like a Spurs shirt.

Also, what about players actually 'seeing' each other on the pitch??

It has been researched and shown that Red is the best colour for players shirts which is why Mad Tan at Cardiff changed their home shirts to Red. Im not advocating that but this??

It is MAY 1st today, not April, right??

Well its Jeremy's club so he does what he likes!!

KP2015

I don't think the 'red' thing has been researched, just a half baked idea based on Liverpool and Man U success in England. There are many notable successful teams who do not played in red, and many not so successful who do.

BURNLEY BAGGIE

No No No this is just wrong. We have Cardiff playing in red, Southampton playing in all red and now us playing in white (forget the pin stripes it's white). I struggled with blue socks and shorts but this is terrible.

Why do people feel they need to change things for the sake of it...?.

The only way to deal with this is people power please everyone if this is true just for one year don't buy the shirt

We Only Need One Half!

Well, I was going to say sounds awful, but lets have a look-see before we decide. However, if that pic is anywhere near what's coming it looks more like a training shirt or one you'd wear with jeans down the pub, its defiantly not a Baggies shirt.

Where's our resident Gok Wrong when we need him?

We Only Need One Half!

Oh, panic over, just spotted him! just occurred to me, will the Stoke one by white with red pinstripes? wouldn't bet against it! lazy Adidas, very lazy.

CantelloRocket 78

WONOH,

I wondered about Stoke as well, but it seems they've switched sponsors to some American brand called 'Warrior', and will wear even stripes next season.

Jack the Hat

I'm liking the narrow striped look shirt as long as it is coupled with white shorts makes a good break from the usual broader stripe. No doubt we will eventually get back to our usual design so welcome the change whilst we can I say. How about white socks with the two navy blue bands just above the ankles again, this would set off the whole strip.

Looking good with the ALBION.

BOING~~~~BOING~~~~J♣H.

Don't worry, those pinstripes will get much wider once spread over your typical Baggy.

Although 'Jackett's been over here every week for the last two years, regularly shown himself up, changed his name several times to try beating the mods - due to the fact he can't control his addiction - and now regularly posts on here at 2-3 a.m. in the morning-

Tradition out of the window....Don't like it one bit.

It's an Adidas shirt not a West Brom shirt ! If that makes sense. Follows the Adidas template not ours...All about the money again

Baggiescomeon

Almost 900 votes in around 90 mins of being posted an barely any comments seems strange that !!

I said on the Victor pictured kit post that - Adidas we salute you, but the tongue in cheek comment did have more than one meaning cause I had heard of this change myself before it was posted.

The thing is people forget that Football is a business, nowadays as we as a game, and a company like Adidas are going to want to make sure we buy the new kit, which almost certainly means making it stand out.

The new kit will be instantly spotted as modern and former kits will not, pressing fans to part with their money for it, its just business, we don't have to buy it, but many will want to just for that reason.

Baggiescomeon

WOW no comments while typing and loads after I had clicked submit, anyway I meant to say Football is a business as WELL as a game.

CantelloRocket 78

Looking at the artist's impression, it'd probably feel like playing in an away strip, only at home!

Personally, I've got a wardrobe full of Baggies shirts with both medium and wide stripes, plus I prefer wearing ones without a sponsor's name on them, so I can't see me buying one of these - poor sales may make the penny drop that it's a stupid idea, and sooner or later it'll no doubt revert back to something more familiar-

meanwhile, will the club's crest now also switch to thin stripes......???

Ventioner

Looks like Tesco will have to change their carrier bags!

Jack the Hat

Ventioner,

Hope they don't sue us.

BOING~~~~BOING~~~~J♣H.

two_tone_baggie

NO!!! this is a disgrace, we are the blue and white stripes, this looks like an away/training top. The history and culture of the club should be honoured and protected. I'm so upset that we have the news of securing a 2year contract extension with addidas and then they annouce that are kit will totally change. Not that I should be surprised but it such a shame there has been no consultation with the fans before making what i consider to be a drastic change. The shirt bears an incredible likeness to that of the anderlicht away shirt. This does make me rather sceptical as to whether this is just a money saving excersisie on behalf of the comapny??

Either way I'm reluctant to believe that us as fans will have any impact on changing this situation. All I can hope for is that fans boycott the shirt completely.

I'm interested to hear everyone elses thoughts... I am in a total state of shock!

wba-man

Please let this be an inaccurate story! Doesn't tradition mean anything these days? It seems that as long as the kit contains the basic colours anything is possible. What next? Blue spots on a white background? I'm dead against this.

BrierleyHillOriginalBaggie

Spot on WONOH but shouldn't adidas design something that we want and not simply a design that they do

We have given them the business as sponsor, they get their name and logo everywhere, we should get something back and not just cash

Why shouldn't the club tell them what we want and they feed the computer and fill the machine

It's all too easy nowadays but Adidas are too idle and above themselves to step outside the circle

Stuff the brochure just tell them what we want

Doesn't affect me as I only wear Retro's but tradition is a big thing

Come on JP if they can't supply find another retailer

That looks more like a bloody tennis shirt

We Only Need One Half!

Yeah I wont be getting one either, besides the fact I'm in my 40's, a Grandad, who walks with a stick, it would seem a little sarcastic if I wore one, mind you, you do see them, at all clubs!

The one KP found, http://i59.tinypic.com/162bmp.jpg though still not wide stripes, looks a lot better than the one the E&D is showing.

p.s. plus they dont do my size anyway!

I'll bet you anything that the only votes in favour came from spiteful Wolves and Villa supporters. Easy way to deal with this change. WEAR YOUR BLUE/WHITE stripes at every match and DON'T BUY the new one !

On another topic: I've just been on the Club site to check the fixtures. An absolute shambles. I'm ashamed to say it but it's true. This on the 60th Anniversary of our 1954 FA Cup win. It's a bloody 'orrible day and this has spoilt it.

Knowing our chaiman Cyril you proberly have to pay for them?

When will you lot understand, you make yerself look idiots without our help.....

CantelloRocket 78

judging by your nonsensical post - replying to Cyril, but mumbling on about somebody else - and your terrible punctuation, does your Mummy know you haven't been to School this year ???

crywolf_once2often

Hi Cantello,

Let's get one thing straight: This is not a 'club site' rival or otherwise. It's an open forum hosted by the Express and Star to whom we should all be grateful for supplying us with news and gossip about our clubs, unlike the 'national' media to whom the likes of Wolves are invisible and the Baggies are only news when there's trouble, crisis, fights, sackings or quasi-nazi salutes.

Living a sad and lonely life, I derive some pleasure from the cross-club jibes and banter as long as it doesn't get too personal or vitriolic! (Actually I do have some pals who are Baggies fans, they even dragged me in to the BRE ONCE - a league cup tie against Wolves, I recall. Happy days!)

PS Like your new shirt in itself, but it ain't WBA. 2002 kit is Albion!

PPS: RIP Chippy.

simmo54

crywolf

Nice post. Thank you.

CantelloRocket 78

Cry Wolf-

I realise the sites are open for anyone to post, and I'm happy to share good-natured banter-

I actually spent about 2 years having a regular ding-dong with one of your past-posters - 'Lone Wolf' - that turned into a battle of wits, but without any nastiness - he even invited me on a fishing holiday, but I didn't want to embarrass him with what I'd have caught!

Unfortunately, we all have a certain 'element' that can spoil it for others, and step over the mark-

you might've noticed ' wolves 4 ever ' saying on this thread 'that's shown these pillocks', when in fact he comes over as very much resembling one himself!!

Basically, if a rival fan 'butts in' on a piece of Albion news, being discussed between Albion fans, with the intention of causing unrest, then he must expect a sharp response, because whenever I've tried posting on the Wolves site in past years, even harmlessly, I've been snapped at and told to 'stay on my own site', because in truth, there's always been a more hostile response to visitors over there than here.

I've chatted in a friendly and enjoyable way on here with several decent Wolves fans, and for them, I'm pleased you've done well this season - but if others want to 'dish it out, I'm afraid they'll have to accept getting it back in return, because if they don't like what we say, maybe they need to realise it's not a one-way game, played with their rules.

As for yourself, good luck in the future, because things appear to be on the upturn at long last down your way.

Lone wolf

Hi Rocket, I think the odd interloper on each others pages adds to the thing.

Fall-outs between posters of the same side happen also, as you know only too well.

I thought the way you handled "Dwarf- zapper" was commendable. Bully fellout with Max, Mon fellout with loads of posters, ( probably the same poster lol,) and i think Kevs had a ding-dong with most of you, its the nature of the beast. If folks dont lift there heads up now and again and see these sites for what they really are, then its all too easy for it to feel personal. I fell into the trap meself with sherlock.

Trying to put across in a post that its only tongue-in-cheek aint easy.

The nasty ones, on both sides, really should be left alone if it gets too regular i reckon.

Anyroad, enough of this..... that new shirt of yours is a shocka ! I wouldnt even use it to wipe sherlocks cell out. lol

But yam probably right about the fishin though.

The only thing i cought one year was Weils disease.

The Real Bully Hoo.

Good to see you're still around Lonely, I still miss you taking the P out of me, especially when I get on y high horse and deserve it.

You make a good point in your post about people falling out on here. The thing is I fell out big style with Max and we signed a peace treaty but later we met up in the pub and I'm sure if we'd met beforehand we would never have had the fall out in the first place if that makes sense.

Anyway just wanted to say all the best to a good Wulfie, look after yourself mate.

CantelloRocket 78

Hi Lonely,

Yes mate, you're right of course, it can all get a bit too emotional at times-

if we had exactly the same opinions all of the time, it'd get boring, but if we have very different views, it predictably ends up with some degree of friction - and a compromise is usually out of the question, so.....pistols at dawn, or maybe just handbags?

'DwarfZappa' was disturbing - or disturbed - he talked to himself on here, 'invented' stories about me, stalked me in a manner online, and even turned up at the pub to 'observe' some of us from the background - you start to wonder.....

As for Sherlock, I actually met him once, and he seemed to be a very nice guy, but he then mysteriously disappeared, which was quite strange.

On the fishing front, we follow completely different paths, so impossible to compare, but I avoid Weil's disease by drinking Bathams, rather than suppin' the Lake....;-)

Stourbridge Wolf

Well the last time we had a ' pinstripe' effect on our shirts between 82-84, we had successive relegations, a ground that was falling apart at the seams and in danger of going out of business ( ok i know what youre thinking, nothings changed etc ) The only real highlights i can recall from that era was a 1-0 win at Anfield and a couple of 'wonder' strikes from Danny Crannie in a 3-1 success at The Hawthorns. I personally think that all our clubs should go back to plain shirts with rounded necks and cuffs, ie circa late 60's/ early 70's and no sponsors on the shirts. I think your strip of 2002 is the closest, but again, without the sponsors name on it. Pinstripe is definately a bad omen, especially if you get sponsored by Tatung!

Martacus Redd

No way should this be allowed to happen. Somethings should never change in life & this is one of them.

rings123

tradition seems to count for nothing hope the chairman looks again at this cause it dear enough to buy the new tops without having the tops the fans want think again think again think again

OnTheFence

Could be true; Stoke have moved to Warrior & Sunderland to Nike so we're the only stripes left with Adidas.

Away kit it is then

The View From Baggy Bottom

I reckon we should get Vincent Tan in to give us some fresh idea's. A nice little red number perhaps, with flaming dragons coiling around the body and over the shoulder chasing the Throstle of wisdom. The numbers on the shirts could co-respond to the menu of the local Chinese take away and you could order a GMac with fried rice with a Berahino on the side.

Then we need the guy from Hull to come and give us a new name, but then, he'd probably prefer to work with our nearest and dearest as they have the right colours. I'm sure they wouldn't mind having them arranged in vertical stripes and after all, Tiggers can bounce, up and then down again. Ohhh, if only we had wealthy owners, who really understand what football is all about!!

Boing Boing!!

crywolf_once2often

Like your theme: If Hull are going to be Hull Tigers, what are WBA going to be called? I tried to think of a witty suffix for you but it's late and my brain hurts.

We had Doritos on our shirts a few years ago, we could become the Wolverhampton Whotsits. BTW We did wear g\b stripes many, many years ago.

Come on, you Baggies, what's your new moniker?

The View From Baggy Bottom

crywolf

I admire your spirit, its a brave man who will come on here and invite people to suggest new names for either club. We should be allowed to have a bit of fun, but I fear you are inviting all kinds of scorn from the attack dogs on both sides.

I can see them now, deep in thought, scratching their chins with blood dripping from their knuckles.

I suppose if we end up wearing mostly white shirts we could be West Bromwich Albino, but that's as far as I'm prepared to go!!!

Just checking, does this new shirt still have the Premiership badge on the shoulder, not the lesser Championship one.

AMF2014

I would usually recommend a petition or a protest against this decision but what honestly is the point? There are a handful of true supporters of clubs in today's game that would support this. Most support the the point of view 'It's his club who are we to stand against him when he is giving us money'. I actually find it shocking these businessmen from here and overseas are ruining clubs traditions to line their own pockets. Colors are the blood of the club, the colors worn for many years from many traditions. It seems like WBA fans are being pushed to one side here without having a say.

two_tone_baggie

couldn't agree more. With each year that passes it seems we, as fans, are expected to tolerate the whims of the powers that be. when will they understand that the colours are everything. It totally dismantles the fabric (no pun intended) of us as a club and in my eyes cheapens our resolve overall. Without our identity as a club we are just vessles for money making that happen to play football.

Why stop there why don't we call ourselves the west bromwich sharks and move to a differnt county??

Regardless. In my eyes we will always be blue and white/the stripes/ the baggies

bring on the weekend. boing boing!

WALL HEATH BAGGIE

You do not have to attend or buy a shirt mate , you do have a choice . At the end of the day the money is yours and the merchandise/ tickets are their's , if you feel like you are being marginalised , tell em to stick it , easy really aye it ?.

two_tone_baggie

I will support the club for life and will continue to go to matches and buy merchandise, just, not this shirt. I feel from the leaked pictures it fundamentally changes our colours, which is part of the foundation of our club. This is something I feel should be protected. Even the barcode shirt still had predominantly thick stripes with the addition of thinner ones.

But why should I just have to accept being marginalised? Or our opinion becoming defunct? it has been 'our' club as a community long before money was involved, and as such I still strongly feel the fans should have a voice regarding fundamental club changes. Though I'm aware with the money involved that is becoming less and less likely.

I do agree with you however that it is a choice to buy or to boycott, which is something that I will do, but that was not my point. I was explaining that I feel upset that changes like this can potentially go ahead with no consultation from the fans. I just feel changes of this natureare dangerous and can open the door to relaxing the rules on other major changes to the club. I'm less ocncerned with the money, power and influence in the equation and more the potential to alter the club that we all love into something diluted or drastically changed in the long term.

Scimitar

If this is true then, even as a Wolves fan, I have to say it is out of order. The Baggies ARE blue and white stripes as much as we are old gold and black. What are the hierarchy thinking if they do not get that? It's not as mad as Cardiff's owner changing their home kit to red, but it shows a similar lack of appreciation/respect for the fans and what the club means to them.

Jack the Hat

Looks like I will be easy to spot next season as I will probably be the only one in our new, modern, Premiership shirt. Wonder if all the traditionalists still wear detachable collar, thin striped shirts?.

What was said awhile ago; Peace owns the club, so he do as he pleases. So, as customers, rather than supporters we should embrace this opportunity to buy a new product and promote two brand names. Besides if the artist's impression is correct, I believe the new shirt could look fetching offset by a Prawn Cocktail in one hand and a Pimm's in the other.

Hate the sight of it!

Statos Boring Brother

No, No, No

I thought that awful black sleeve shirt of ours was bad enough when I saw it last night but this is 1,000 times worse.

It just isn't a Baggies shirt.

Baggies play in blue and white stripes but this one will appear as plain white from a distance.

The only good thing you can say about it is that it will make it easier to see the player's name & number for those of us who can't see as well as we could.

Please Baggies fans, protest long, hard and loud about this idea and get the club to respect tradition.

colindbaggie

May be the powers that be are looking to the future, and we are goung to start playing baseball with each other.

Using a ball not just the bats lol.

Danish Baggie

Now we're talking stripes. Maybe Norwich better check if they have a red and white strip in the locker for the trip to Stamford Bridge. Seems to Work :-)

Ps. Hate that shirt on that picture.

boy from the REAL black country

No No No No No! terrible idea and i for one wouldn't buy it, Play around with the away kit if you really must, but leave the broad traditional home stripes well alone!

The View From Baggy Bottom

You don't suppose that Adidas are being a bit cute here, do you? They surely wouldn't be just a little concerned that our broad stripes are reducing the recognition value and impact of their usual thin shoulder stripes and thus lessoning the marketing value of their brand. Surely such financial matters wouldn't take presidence over a clubs tradition and history?

I wonder what nonsence they sold to the board in order to get this one passed. I've spent my working life in sales and marketing. I know how they think. This is the work of an Adidas marketing expert trying to raise the profile of their brand, at the expence of the clubs image.

Boing Boing!!!

Not for me this isn't an Albion shirt. My £50 will stay in my pocket next season and by first reactions I think shirt sales will be down. However, there are always those who will pay for anything with an Albion badge on it LOL

WALL HEATH BAGGIE

Fools and their money are easily parted Simmo . Personally i think its the worst Albion shirt i have ever seen.

Have to agree with you Max on this. However, I thought the same about the 93 Barcode one and still ended up buying one LOL However, I am older and wiser now ... well I am certainly older LOL

Don't faint, but I agree with you!!

Shirt looks blumming horrendous, I won't be parting with my hard earned to buy it that's for sure, not if it looks like the above picture anyhow. Think I'll be going for a retro shirt next season.

I'm a traditionalist I'm afraid, Albion should always play in navy blue and white striped shirts, white shorts NOT navy blue and white socks. The shirt is the clubs identity, we've all seen the outcry at Cardiff, is this any different?

Leave well alone please JP, a rethink please.

Simmo

Like you and most other fans i'm absolutely disgusted in the ditching of "The Stripes" so much so that I shall seeking confirmation from the club today and if true I shall be sending my season ticket together with my boarding cards for the flights booked for my return on Thursday to Mr Peace and that's the last time I shall be attending a football match at the Hawthorns.

Disgusted doesn't cover it The Greed League rules.

I'm sorry to say I won't be able to meet yourself and Jack so hope you both have a great day and say farewell to Chippy from me.

It's hardly just a shirt, it's the Blue and White stripes of West Bromwich Albion Football Club, a club that my family has supported for generations,my old man must be fuming upstairs.

JP has shown total disregard for traditions of the club, Chippy Clark must be banging on the lid trying to get out and have his say.

My feelings for modern football ie The Greed League are not the same as they used to be and your right I really enjoy going to matches but as social thing as much as the football, meeting the likes of you, you miserable bar steward, Cantello etc up the vine having a little fun then goin' to meet me old mates, having a little fun then up the match fu'a load of fun, back in the vine f'mowa fun.

I know I just wouldn't be able to sit there and watch without the stripes, o'cor help it that's the way I feel and I think I'm doing my little bit to show that twat how many fans think.

Hi Medway,

just seen the news as I posted about the shirt......before my time but from the footage on dvd I've seen the man could play.....man could he play!! A proper Albion legend - and a player who deserves to be described as a legend unlike so many that get the accolade in the modern game -

I'm sure that the club will honour him at the weekend and again against Stoke.

My sincere condolences to his family at this time.

God Bless

Chippy Clark was a fab player and lived on Tantany West Bromwich - often saw him in the Merry Go Round Pub. I remember his performance in the 1967 League Cup Final - his 2 goals should have set us for victory, But .....

How much would he be worth in todays markets?????

My sincere condolences to his family

colindbaggie

I've seen a couple of people around in the new wolves shirt and i thought it looked like a baseball shirt.

Then we come out with this .

At first glance you think no way, but as an away shirt it may be ok, i wear a retro 82-83 shirt but i always think home shirt blue whit stripes away shirt green yellow stripes.

Basically a change is as good as a rest not traditional but still the Baggies.

The Exiled Baggie

No, not an Albion shirt, dont the club have any say in the design and if so is there no one at the club with a modicum of sense or tradition. Hopefully if the shirt looks anything like the one in the mock up Albion fans will boycott it and refuse to buy any replicas, get the white shorts back as well while youre on and if they can remember that we had success in yellow and green stripes as away shirts that would also be a plus.

AndyH

Evening,

no....I know it's just an artists impression but........leave the stripes alone!! I don't care what other clubs have done with their shirts. I don't care about other clubs changing colours and designs etc but we play at home in STRIPES!!!!! Not a little pin stripe either...a proper big STRIPE!!!! I'd try and explain about tradition to their design committee but I fear they're all about 12 and have just been using the crayons a little more than normal this week. I won't buy one.....might go back and wear the one with no sponsor on it.....

Shropshirebaggy

Just seen the sad news on Chippy Clark, what a player he was. My old man brought me up on stories of how Bobby Hope would ping a pass that was so accurate, Chippy didn't have to break stride and with those heavy leather balls, that's no mean feat, he'd skin his full-back and whip a cross in for King Jeff to thunder home a header.

Wish I was old enough to see those players in action, criminal that there is such limited footage of the Albion back then.

RIP Chippy, never forgotton.

simmo54

I now have had time to reflect and let's face it chaps, it could be an awful lot worse .......... at least we don't have suffer that burnt orange rust with frayed black edges.

richard.duncan1

Anyone would think they had announced the club was moving to China. I dont see the problem its blue, white and striped. I will certainly be adding it to my collection.

The Real Bully Hoo.

Chippy Clark.

He was brave as he got kicked up in the air time after time and got up to go again.

He had barrel loads of skill.

Most of all he was what a footballer should be, he was an entertainer. Whenever the ball went to him your pulse rate would rise because he had one thought and that thought was to run at the opposition, to beat his full back and get a cross in. He was also a bit of a rebel.

Great memories, great player at a time when we had such an exciting team.

Thanks Chippy for everything. RIP.

CantelloRocket 78

I can only echo the tributes for Clive 'Chippy' Clark-

as a young lad, watching the Baggies for the first time back in 1964, I loved to see 'Chippy' attacking from the left flank - he was a 'slight' player, but quick and tricky, and I believe he started out playing Rugby in Leeds ( ? ), but became a superb, and very underrated footballer - and because he and Willie Johnston were so outstanding on that wing, I've waited over 30 years for someone to replace them of equal ability, but such a player these days would cost a zillion quid!!!

Lovely memories for a lovely guy, and a Baggies legend-

R.I.P. Wizard on the Wing.

Stars In Stripes

Seems like I'm going to have to change my name for next season.....Stars In (pin)Stripes anyone????

Oh! and just before I go, after the season of absolute turmoil we've just had to endure what a complete PR 'own goal' this shirt is. For once in your life Jeremy, listen to the fans and do the right thing.

Have a look on the Wolves page under Wolves change of strip ,before I had the misfortune to run into know it all Cantello I paid compliment to an ALBION fan who had congratulated Wolves for their success in turn some Wolves fans paid compliment back I got another ALBION reply along the same lines. For weeks now Jack The Hats been slagging the Wolves off right left and centre,so I been giving a bit back, this aimed at him not the Albion, then Cantello gets on his high, horse starts flashing the insults does my mummy know I don't go to school punctuation clever names for certain Wolves players, calling he things ive got problems take a look at some of the rubbish you,ve written calling one of your players king that sounds childish to me have a good live Cantello.

wolves 4 ever,

Since when has banter been slagging off?, a little bit of the dramatics from a brow beaten Dog-Head if you ask me. Get on to your own club and blame them for the double drop if you can't take a bit of banter off me, then you and your mods should party together and not come on this site or judge my posts. You weren't giving banter back according to your words as you state you gave a bit back referring to "Slagging off". Yes we do call Jeff Astle the King, didn't your lot try to copy ( as per usual ) us by calling Richards and Doogan the same but as you copied us and it never had the same ring did it, a bit like the time you tried to copy " The Liquidator ", it never came over as forceful as when us BAGGIES performed it. Y'know why?, you lot never used it to promote one of your players, you only used it to to bad mouth the ALBION. wolves even took to the Jeremy Peace formula on the way to run a football club and that was after Mr. Moxey proudly stated we will never do an ALBION. Yes in many ways you and your club try to copy the BAGGIES but the magic ingredient is always missing, that being > " The TRUTH ".

Glad to educate you,

Well its been a funny week on the Boards . Our very own Brazilian Football expert and part time Dinglefinder General Cantello Rocketino 78 is pushing for us to sign Fidel Castro , i thought he might be old and past it but it did not stop Garlick signing Anelka now did it .

Kelvin in Mallorca shocked the world by giving an opinion , then promptly booked into the Betty Ford Clinic on the advice of that paragon of virtue Mboy .

Dolally tap posted two blogs where he was quite reasonable. Headmaster Bob and Shropshire agreed with me on summat , cor blimey what next Rocketino and Jackett getting engaged !!!!!!!!!!!!.

Little Ronnie Allen was absent this week , gutted that the Baggies won one no doubt , altough there was a report of a bloke seen running down Whitmore Reans High street with the Umbrella on his Pina Colada on fire wearing bermuda shorts and shouting ' Elvis is Alive ' .

Your trusty reporter Mad Max beyond hope will sign off for now.

Johneboywolves

The last Wolves shirt was bad and the new one is just as bad. I paid £10 for this seasons shirt on clearance and to be honest the quality is very poor and certainly not worth £42 as originally priced. Many fans preferred the away shirt last season and many also went back to buying the retro shirts, which speaks volumes. Changing the kit every season is blatant exploitation especially when the fans aren't keen on the new design. Changing the Albion shirt to pin stripes is laughable & ludicrous. Wolves play in old gold and Albion play in broad blue and white stripes - period. Similarly, England seem to change their shirt design every other match but we have won only 1 major trophy. Whereas Brazil seem happy with the design of their shirt (albeit minor changes) and look what they have won!

This shirt changing nonsense is rubbish. The providers of the kit (Puma, Adidas, Nike etc) should be more inventive in making their money instead of coldly altering the image of the team.

WALL HEATH BAGGIE

John

It aye the shirt that matters aer kid its what you put in em .

Hence Brazil win the World Cup a lot ( thats right aye it Rocketino ?) and Wolves/ Albion / Villa and Blues are more often than not Carp .

Happy_baggie

So the E&D print a mock up of what they think (hope ) our next shirt might look like and the "JP don't care about the fans" brigade and the other doom and gloomers can't wait to start wailing...... pathetic and another reason why so many of us don't bother posting these days.

Just wanted to sat R.I.P to the legend that is Chippy Clarke - he would have been brilliant in any shirt we gave him. God Bless.

Hi Max.

I know you'll take the P but as a kid we used to collect bubble gum cards and Johnny Haynes as Fulham's top player was on one as was Macedo the goalkeeper and that is probably the reason I remember him.

Likewise I remember Larry Carberry of Ipswich and Eddie Hopkinson of Bolton and many other, players who I would probably have forgotten had they not featured on these cards.

The sad part of the story is that the treasured final card of the set was the England World Cup team for Chile and I finally got it one morning on the way to school and when I arrived in triumph nobody was interested because a new series of cards had just come out.

WALL HEATH BAGGIE
