Jonas Olsson in West Brom fitness vow

Albion defensive lynchpin Jonas Olsson today revealed he hopes to be fit for Monday's trip to Manchester City despite a recurrence of his

troublesome Achilles injury.

The Sweden international limped out of Saturday's 3-3 draw with Tottenham at The Hawthorns and today admitted he was struggling earlier in the game.

But Olsson is adamant he has a chance of making the trip to the Etihad Stadium.

"I don't feel too bad," he said. "I've been in since Saturday monitoring my injury and I feel alright.

"I struggled during last week and I struggled during the second half of the game. After half-time I realised I needed to be honest to myself and to the team.

"When I'm not 100 per cent right there are players on the bench who can do a better job than I can when I'm on 90 or 80 per cent.

"It was an easy decision to come off. I didn't want to – if you look at my career here it's probably something I've only done three or four times. But I struggled last Saturday so it was the right choice. Hopefully now I can be back in for selection against Manchester City. I think I'll be fit."

The Baggies will head for Manchester looking to bounce back from the Spurs clash, when they threw away a 3-0 lead and were forced to settle for a draw.

But Olsson insists confidence is high at The Hawthorns.

He said: "We're disappointed we didn't hang on but morale is good. We've been playing well over the last four or five games.

"The Spurs game, conceding late, was tough – it always is. But if you watched the game it was a fair result.

"What was tough was losing two points. Everyone was so down after the Cardiff game and we saw the response against Norwich. Hopefully we can do that on Monday."
