John Giles was awesome see how he weighted the ball for Cantello's rocket. No hundred mile an hour ball, hoping some-one can get at it. Clear precisely weighted pass and just the right speed. What fine football he had us playing, crisp fast and tidy. Yes, you were a great footballer John Giles.

The above post was meant for the 4-0 win blog. Sorry.

Great selection of stills there. I remember some great Manchest Utd v West Bromwich Albion duels before those. When we beat them 6-3 twice and being at Old Trafford on the first day of the new season, after going 4-0 down after twenty minutes ( Caught cold, we were ) we battled back to lose 5-4 and could have won it. Glorious open football from start to finish. Best, Law were in their team that was dripping with talent. Mind you we were also oozing talent, Astle, Brown, Hope just to name a few. Those were the days.

Back in '68, Albion won the F.A. Cup, and United won the European Cup-

we played the 'red devils' - including the likes of Law, Charlton and Best - that year in the league, and watching as a 12 year old who was squashed in the BRE between a crowd of 46,000, we thumped 'em 6-3, including a Jeff Astle hat-trick - and two days later he hit another hat-trick against Bobby Moore's West Ham-

believe me, it don't get much better than that............

Cantello,

So right, heady days those, there was another time around then, we beat them 6-3 again. Jeff scored seven goals in eight days at that time you refer to. Super memories mate.
