Albion boss Steve Clarke today warned his side they face cut-throat competition for places as he prepared to welcome back key players against Arsenal on Sunday.
Clarke could have James Morrison, Chris Brunt, Nicolas Anelka and Shane Long back at the weekend to supplement the squad that beat Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.
And with Ben Foster, Matej Vydra, Zoltan Gera and George Thorne still to return, head coach Clarke has warned his players they must be ready to take their chance – or risk a lengthy spell out of the team.
Clarke said: “My job is to make sure all the players stay motivated and involved and at times that will be difficult for them. But they will just have to accept the fact they are part of a good squad of players that we think will be really competitive in the Premier League.”
Scott Sinclair has been ruled out of Sunday’s game with the hamstring injury he sustained against United.
But Brunt (groin) and Anelka (foot) returned to training yesterday.
