West Bromwich Albion defender Jonas Olsson has flown to see a specialist in Sweden in a bid to avoid any more lay-offs with his troublesome Achilles tendon.

The 30-year-old has made a brief trip to his homeland to visit the specialist and will miss tonight's friendly in Cork.

But the Baggies today insisted the Sweden international is fully fit.

New signing Diego Lugano will not figure tonight despite travelling with the squad that flew from Birmingham today.

And another defender, Gabriel Tamas, has been ruled out with a knee injury.

Head coach Steve Clarke said: "We thought it would be wise to be proactive for Jonas. We're hoping to help him manage the workload his body will be taking on."
