The Baggies were continuing negotiations with forwards Salomon Kalou and Matej Vydra over potential moves to The Hawthorns with officials hoping to make progress this week.

But Rosenberg insists he is ready to make up for lost time after a nightmare first season in England in which he failed to score in 24 Premier League appearances, including five starts.

The Swede netted his second goal in three public pre-season outings in Saturday's 2-0 win at Derby after also finding the target in a private practice match against Tamworth.

The 30-year-old said: "I only played 10 minutes but it's always nice to score as a striker. I didn't score too many times last season so I have to score a lot in this campaign.

"I had a tough time last year so it's good to have a start like this and to start to score goals. I always knew I could score because I scored in every other country, but it's still nice to bag a goal and to have a pre-season.

"I missed the pre-season last year and I think it will be good for me in the campaign to come. It is always the same, it doesn't matter how much experience you get. In the back of your head you know you can score but you have to prove it to the fans and to the people here."

Baggies boss Steve Clarke remains determined to add more firepower to his squad with loan star Romelu Lukaku returning to Chelsea and outcast Peter Odemwingie seemingly set to leave.

They have submitted a loan offer for Vydra, who netted a hat-trick yesterday in a match between two teams of Udinese players in Italy.

And they have held talks over a possible deal for Kalou, although West Ham are thought to be the only club to submit a formal offer.

Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed his interest and the Upton Park club are also in the running for Vydra's signature.

Meanwhile, the Baggies are continuing to negotiate with Manchester City over a possible loan deal for winger Scott Sinclair.

Meanwhile, Albion today hosted the Premier League's first all-day Hawk-Eye test ahead of the introduction of goalline technology for the new season.

Premier League and FIFA officials were spending the day at The Hawthorns trialling the new system, which is intended to eradicate controversies like Frank Lampard's disallowed goal at the 2010 World Cup.

The Hawthorns is believed to be the first Premier League ground to undertake a full test, with the system due to be introduced for the new season.

A Premier League spokeswoman said: "Every club will have a day when officials visit and the technology is tested."
