Double West Brom injury blow over Ben Foster and Youssouf Mulumbu

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster has suffered a fresh injury setback – and Youssouf Mulumbu has been ruled out of Saturday’s trip to Sunderland.

Foster might need further groin surgery less than two weeks after having an initial operation, and that could rule him out until mid-December.

Key midfielder Mulumbu is out of the trip to the Stadium of Light with a hamstring problem but defender Gareth McAuley is fit to return.

Boss Steve Clarke said: “Ben won't be fit this week. We are thinking he's got a similar problem on the other side of the groin now.

“We will get that checked out but he won't be fit for Saturday. I'll leave that to my medical staff and we will assess it again after the weekend.

“Mulumbu won't be fit this weekend but we are very hopeful he will be fit for mid-week.”

The thing is we now have loads of options for our midfield he could drop mozza back in there and get Gera to play his position put dorrans in there he could put jara in there only sc will know what to do and in him we trust and in goal I now trust boaz even though I never dissed him. It is a shame about mulumbu though him and yacob started to play well together

Here's a question I asked warren the blogger the other day but he ain't replied !! Do people think that a lot off teams have caught up with the top four or five or the top four or five ain't quite as good as they used to be I personally think they ain't quite as good as they used to be even though we have obviously come on leaps and bounds over the last couple of years any way boing boing

This is where the real test begins, how we deal with losing multiple key players at a time. Still at least our seasons form so far means that whoever may come in will know they will have to produce if they want to stand a chance of keeping that place as standards are soaring.

We know by now that players will be unavailable at times during the season, the winter months are often the worst period, I guess that's one of the main reasons clubs work with a sizeable squad these days.

The ironic thing is that although we don't want to lose our best players, they've usually the first to go missing, partly because they're often working harder, and getting more involved in games, than their team mates.

I wasn't aware until early this morning that Jerome Thomas has gone to Leeds on loan, although it does seem he just needs some match time under his belt before rejoining the squad, it obviously makes sense.

Brierleyhill,

Gera is a good shout mate, we are well blessed with midfield players so no problems on that score. Now who covers for Myhill, that is the question. We need to police their goal hanger Fletcher or give him a ticket for parking. ☺☻☺☻s.

Bring it on,

Albion

bring it on.
