Reid faces battle to reclaim place
Returning favourite Steven Reid today admitted he faces a fight to regain his West Brom place from Billy Jones.
Reid is targeting Saturday’s meeting with former boss Roberto Di Matteo and his Chelsea side for a comeback at right-back after a two-month injury lay-off.
But the 31-year-old conceded he cannot take his place for granted after Shrewsbury-born Jones produced impressive performances against Southampton and Wigan.
“Hopefully I’ll be involved on Saturday and I just need to fight my way back into the team now,” said Reid.
“We’ll be trying to get three wins on the spin and I just want to get back into the squad and experience a match day.
“I’ll have to earn the right to play. Billy’s playing really well at right-back. He’s a great lad and he has proved to be another great signing for the club.”
