Midfielder George Thorne could become the next Albion youngster to leave The Hawthorns on loan this week after James Hurst and Saido Berahino sealed moves.

Hurst joined Birmingham yesterday with Berahino heading for Peterborough as the Baggies secured Championship experience for the highly-rated duo.

And Thorne could be the next academy product to be granted a temporary move after finding his route to the first team blocked.

The Baggies have fielded enquiries from several clubs but are keen to ensure the 19-year-old regular Championship football for the next phase of his career.

Thorne played for 90 minutes for Albion's Under-21 side against Arsenal at The Hawthorns yesterday – a game that saw England star Jack Wilshere make his Gunners comeback.

The Baggies' exit from the Capital One Cup has further limited the chances for their youngsters to gain first-team experience, prompting head coach Steve Clarke to grant the all-clear for several loan moves.

He had already allowed the out-of-favour Chris Wood to join Millwall but midfielder Scott Allan and winger Kemar Roofe this week moved to League One with MK Dons and Northampton respectively.

Full-back Hurst sealed a 28-day switch to Blues with forward Berahino joining Posh until January 2.
